Set in Pune, the story of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon "Ek Baar Phir revolves around Shlok, a dynamic, handsome and an astute businessman and Astha a fun-loving, lively girl. If Shlok is a complete chauvinist and believes that women's role should be confined to taking care of the home and family. Astha is a complete contrast to his stark personality; she believes in equality for both men and women and has a very progressive outlook to life. For Shlok its all about succeeding and being on top of the game and for Astha she would loves to spread happiness and cheers in the world. What happens when two strong and opposing personalities ends meet? For Shlok, Asthas every entry into his space only calls for trouble making situations worse leading to a love-hate drama between the two and several dramatic twists unraveling the unknown.

Talking about the show, Avinash Sachdev said, I have always played a character of a sweet, loving boy and this is the first time that I will be playing an anti-hero on the small screen. While I was looking forward to such a role I was thrilled that it came to me so soon. I have done my bit of homework and now getting prepared to wow my fan and viewers with this unique love-hate story."

Shrenu Parikh adds, I am really lucky that I am back to the channel where I started my career. I am portraying Aastha's character who is today's girl, with full of life. Iss Pyaar Ko Main Kya Naam Doon Ek Baar Phir is her tryst with this arrogant boy Shlok which eventually turns out to be an interesting tug of war with their love -hate relationship.

Produced by Sphere Origin, the show also brings together an ensemble cast that includes Manish Wadhwa, Geetanjali Tikekar, Tushar Dalvi and Prachi Shah amongst others.

The new cast of Iss Pyaar... carries a huge baggage to deliver a good product - Abhaas Mehta

Abhaas Mehta who essayed the important role of Shyam in Star Plus’ first series of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon is excited about his show turning into a brand name.

With Iss Pyaar Ko getting back with a Season 2 very soon, Abhaas wishes the new set of actors all the very best. “I am glad and happy about Iss Pyaar Ko getting back with a new season. It shows how popular the show was. When we did Iss Pyaar, we did not find the going tough. But in the case of the new cast, the expectations are very high. Even before the launch of the show, they carries a huge baggage to deliver a good product. But I guess with a bigger challenge comes greater motivation. So I wish them luck.”

Ask Abhaas whether he has any regrets of the same cast, including him not being part of Season 2 and he is quick to say, “Well, I don’t think so. I think even if the same cast comes together, we cannot scale the same heights and recreate the same magic. And as for me, I am happy that I am not part of Iss Pyaar 2. As Shyam, I have done all that I could have. I am so creatively satisfied that I am still basking in the glory of playing Shyam (smiles).”

What about a new character in Iss Pyaar 2, will you take it if given a chance? “No, as viewers will not accept me in some other character other than Shyam, if it is Iss Pyaar Season 2.”

Abhaas confides in us that he is a bit disappointed about the change in makers for Season 2. “Technically speaking, if the channel was to bring back Iss Pyaar, they should have approached the same makers (4 Lions Films and IMRC Entertainment) who made Season 1. They were responsible in making Iss Pyaar so popular. I think the channel must have spoken to the then producers, but I am not sure what prompted for a producer change. It would have been nice if the same makers had got the opportunity to make the second season.”

On taking up new work, Abhaas explains, “I am on the lookout for something challenging. Let’s see what comes my way.”

It’s been almost two years since he enjoyed being the sweet and caring Dev in Zee TV’s Chhoti Bahu. Meet Avinash Sachdev who is all set to make a comeback on small screen with the second season of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. Yes, he is the one stepping into the shoes of Barun Sobti, reviving his cold and rude character, but with a different name.

Avinash Sachdev will play Shlok in the upcoming Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon… Ek Bar Phir. Surprisingly, when he signed the serial he wasn’t aware that the show is a sequel to a much hit show. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was forced to go off air last year in November on popular demand as the serial’s lead actor Barun Sobti had quit the show.

Naturally, expectations are quite high from the second season of the serial, and Avinash knows that people will start comparing him with Barun. But he is hopeful that the serial will click with the audiences. “'Iss Pyaar Ko...' is a family drama. So, it would definitely attract homemakers. But there's a chemistry between the lead actors, so that might catch the interest of youngsters,” says Avinash.

In the new Iss Pyaar Ko..., Avinash plays a male chauvinist, and will be shown as a cold and rude man who feels that women are inferior to their male counterparts. Playing a character like this was a challenge for the actor as he is totally opposite to what he is essaying onscreen. Anyway, Avinash Sachdev is living up the role and is often found being irritable and cranky post the shoot -- something his friends do not like a bit.

For the new season of Iss Pyaar Ko..., Avinash is paired opposite Shrenu Parikh of Byaah Hamari Bahoo Ka. The cute actress is playing Aastha in the show. Like the original, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon… Ek Baar Phir, depicts a love-hate story between a boy and a girl, who are totally opposite to each other.

The show will premiere on Star Plus on August 26. Once again, love is in the air on TV.

What is adventure according to you?

Adventure is all about experiencing something which you haven't experienced before. I would love to experience new places which I haven't explored before. Experiencing the unknown is adventure for me.

Share your most adventurous day.

I remember a day when I was in Delhi and it was my friend's birthday. We met in the morning and we walked through the entire city and came back home at night. That was really a very long walk for both of us. There's another day which I remember is the time when I was living in a hostel. We used to sneak into the girls room of the girls hostel. One day the security guard caught us and my friends jumped off and ran away. I was caught so I cooked up a story and elaborated it by saying, if I have done something wrong then I will jump off from here and die! I knew that there was a swimming pool down the floors so I wont get hurt even if I jumped off from there but I pretended like I would and my principal asked me not to repeat such acts in future and released me. There have been lots of such adventurous days in my life. Driving through Mumbai roads is also an adventure for me.

Your favorite adventure?

Exploring new places and experiencing the new culture of that place. I really love walking so I also love walking through the hilly areas in any of the hill stations and go for trekking trips.

One thrilling adventure on your wish list?

I would love to go for sky diving. Exploring new culture excites me more than sky diving. It will give you one experience after another.

Who would you want to take for a thrilling activity from the industry?

I would love to take Barun Sobti, Sanaya Irani, Mohit Sehgal, Daljeet Bhanot, Shaleen Bhanot, Karan Goddwani, Abhaas Mehta, Ravi Dubey, Sargun Mehta, Waseem Mushtaq and his wife Ayesha, Neil Bhatt, Manish Nawani along with my wife. If I would have to go on an adventure, then I will take all these people along with me. Saare ke saare ek se badhkar ek namoone hain so dealing with each other will be a different kind of adventure for all of us.

The ardent followers cum fans of the show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? were seen offended by the title of Sunjoy Wadhwa's Sphere Origins daily soap Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon... Ek Baar Phir which went on air from 26th September.

The show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? was produced by Gul Khan and was a hit show. The viewers of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? were very upset with the sudden end to the show. The fans were connected to the show and its characters especially the leads Sanaya Irani and Barun Sobti, hence they could not accept the same title of the show with altogether different characters and actors in it. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon... Ek Baar Phir has the main leads Shrenu Parikh and Avinash Sachdev.

On the same we got in touch with Shrenu Parikh who was a bit snubbed looking at the feedback of the readers and viewers towards the title of the show but she dealt with the issue positively.

She says, "It is a book with the same cover but the content is different. I hope that the viewers will like the show as we actors and the entire team is working really hard."

"When I got to know the feedback I felt a bit bad but at the end I dealt with it very positively."

Though the show went on air from yesterday, the shooting for the show had begun from quite some time before the on air date. Shrenu is having a fun time shooting for this show, "The storyline of the show is very different and interesting. By far I have enjoyed shooting for the show. In fact our entire team is having a blast shooting for this show. I am blessed with good people around me."

She says that working with Sphere Origins is like coming back home, "I had started my career with the show Gulal which was produced by Sphere Origins and working with them again is like coming back home."

Well very nicely said Shrenu. It is a book with the same cover but different content. We hope that the viewers like this show too as much as they liked Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon.

The first season of the same show was rated number 1 and. When the soap ended the makers decided to come up with another season

The chemistry between Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani did wonders for the ratings and the makers hope to achieve the same with the new season. Starring Avinash Sachdeva and Shrenu Parikh, the new season of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon is being aired at 6pm.

There are a lot of expectations from this daily soap but wonder why Star Plus didn’t give the show a primetime slot. Wethinks, like us, the makers too don’t expect the show to break record ratings. Though the makers have an interesting story, the chemistry between Avinash and Shrenu is almost non-existent. Guess the channel has started the show on a trial basis and if it works well they might consider moving it to prime time or else like most other shows, this one too would be axed before time.

Giving them the benefit of doubt, let’s hope the show runs well and Avinash and Shrenu actually manage to sizzle on screen and make the TRPs hit the roof. Right BollywoodLifers?

Do you hope to recreate the chemistry with Suzanna Mukherjee that you had with Sanaya Irani?
Of course, we have gotten along well so far and we are both putting in the hard work. As I had always said, it takes two people to work hard to create the chemistry.

How do you make each other comfortable?
Yaar, that is something you can't do deliberately. It's either a given or it's not. So it was a given luckily here.

Do you offer yips and advices to Suzanna?
She is very good. I don't think she needs any tips and advices. And for any help, the director (MitaliGhoshal) is there.

What are the common topics between you two in your free time?

What was your first impression of Barun?
I am not a judgemental kind of person. But yes, I know her better now

What can we expect from the couple?
It's for the people to decide.

What made you say yes to the film?
The script got me hooked.

Did you have a say in having Suzanna chosen, considering you are involved in the project in every way?
I am not Brad Pitt, so I don't get to chose.

Personal fitness mantra: My fitness mantra is to indulge in any type of exercise that could be going to the gym, taking active part in sports, walking or jogging. I also indulge in yoga for meditation and try to bring in new ways to stay fit.

Personal diet mantra: I don’t have any diet plan. I eat everything but do balance it out. I also make it a point to eat in every two to three hours but never overeat. In my daily routine, I include protein, carbs, fruits, dry fruits and one spoon of ghee as I think it is very important element in one’s routine.

Are you a foodie? Oh yes, I am a big-time foodie. But being an actor, I don’t take in more of junk food since I need to look fit.

Exercise routine: I do both cardio and weight lifting as I think both are equally important. After having my lunch or dinner, I do not sit but go for walk regularly. Whenever necessary, I take staircase to go down and climb up. These small things make a lot of difference.

Are you a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian? I am a pucca non-vegetarian.

Favourite cuisine: All Indian cuisines.

Favourite dish: Simple dishes like rajma chawal and butter chicken.

A must on my breakfast table: Almonds are a must on my breakfast table.

Sugar or sugar-free tea/coffee: I usually have brown sugar and if not available then have a little bit of normal sugar.

Lunch generally consists of: A whole meal.

Dinner generally consists of: Salad, soup while curd is a must.

Dessert delights: Gulab jamun.

One thing I can't resist: I have a serious weakness for gulab jamuns; can have at least 15 to 20 in a go.

My favourite drink (non-alcoholic): Fresh juices.

My favourite drink (alcoholic): Neither do I drink nor do I smoke.

At parties I have: I like having starters with fresh lime soda.

Most unusual dish I've tasted: I don’t remember the name but it is a very famous fish dish that was very spicy and raw in taste.

Experiment with food: Yes.

On the streets, I love to have: Vada pav, chaats and kheema pav.

Do you cook? I can cook maggi, pasta in white sauce, scrambled eggs and milkshakes.

Fitness tip: I think the best tip I can give is that always have a proper breath counting. Whenever one is performing yoga or
exercising, he/she should inhale and exhale properly. Going according to music rhythm is wrong.

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon – Ek Baar Phir which launched on Star Plus this week has been received well and now the makers will begin making the track spicier with initial tiff and romance between Aastha and Shlok.

According to our source,”Aastha and Shlok will have tiffs in the coming episodes and even clashes will take place between the two.”

This particular sequence will air from today and the viewers will slightly be made ware about Shlok’s painful past which has now made him an woman hater currently in the show.

Initially, I thought Barun was rude: Suzanna Mukherjee...by Criss  

The half-Ukranian, half-Bengali beauty Suzanna Mukherjee — who will act alongside Barun Sobti in Mitali Ghoshal's Bolly outing 22 Yards, speaks to CT on the sets in Kolkata about her co-star and their off-screen gupshup.

You know many languages, tell us which ones?
My mom is from Ukraine, so I learnt Ukranian first. I was two-years -old when I came back to India with my mom, and then I learnt Russian because I am from Bhilai and there were 2,000 Russians families in the neighbourhood because of Bhilai Steel Plant. My parents still live there. I either communicate in Ukranian or Russian with my family as my dad met mom when he went to study there in the erstwhile USSR, and is also fluent in the language. Then I know Bengali because my father is a Bengali. That apart, I know Hindi and English. I also understand Marathi since I live in Mumbai.

Have you ever got angry at Barun and hurled Russian words at him?
Gussa kyun aaega, bada sweet hai woh. In fact, usko ata hoga mujh par, mujhe to nahi ata.

Barun has a huge fan following. Do you fear getting overshadowed somewhere?
I cannot be afraid of being overshadowed since I have my part. What I can do he can't do and what he can do, I can't do. It's always going to be like that. So I think as long as we hit that chemistry right, we hit those scenes right, I don't think people will have anything to complain about.

What made you say yes to the film?
The first time she narrated the story to me, I was in tears, I had goose bumps and when something like that happens to you just by listening to the script, you have to do it! Today, I think more than actors and stars, script is becoming the hero. It's a dream script and a dream project.

Do you know that there is a section of the fans who only want to see Barun and Sanaya together and can't tolerate one without the other?
I can only hope that they still come and watch the film since they love Barun so much and not hate me as much because it's not my fault. Main kya kar sakti hoon? I can only do my job. They had a great chemistry but I am really trying hard to create the same chemistry. Better or worse, the audience will be the judge.

How do you hope to create that chemistry?
Actually we have just started to interact because Barun's schedule has been very hectic, but I think we click very easily. He is a very easy going guy and is very approachable. He has no fuss. So natural chemistry is already there, baaki to acting hi karenge.

How do you make each other comfortable?
Nothing much. In fact, I have been in Kolkata for three days and Barun hasn't taken me anywhere. He has only spent time with me on sets. Other than that, I never see him around. I don't know what he is up to. He does make fun of me because I zonk out a lot. I start doing my scenes or saying dialogues randomly.

After how long have you come to Kolkata?
I was here last when I was eight years old. I had come for a wedding. Then I had many opportunities to come, but somehow couldn't.

What was your first impression of Barun?
When I met him, to be honest I found him to be rude and arrogant, because he is a shy person. I was hesitant ki baat karoon ya na karoon because he gives those looks which scare you. But then, after talking to him once or twice you realize that he is so easy to talk to. I think this is his biggest negative point that he gives off that vibes that he is rude, when he is not.

Now what do you think of him?
There is a lot of difference now and in the first impression. I think initially when I found out that Barun was such a big star, I though bahut problem hone walihai, ego clashes maybe, but no there was no problem as such. From the first day, he made sure that I was comfortable. Even during doing the scenes, if I get too nervous sometimes and do not get it right, he would just hold my hand and ask me to relax. He is like that — quite comforting and supportive. I think that should work in our favour.

Does he give you tips and advices?
Everybody is giving me tips because I am working after a big gap. I was quite nervous when I started out, thinking will I be able to pull this off? There was so much pressure. So everybody has been working hard to give their best shots. Barunbhi advice deta hai kabhi kabhi when he feels that a particular scene is not coming naturally and tells me aise kar le ya waise kar le. So he is helpful.

What do you two talk about off the sets?
Both of us are in committed relationships, so we talk about our special someones. We both love our partners a lot. We also talk about fitness sometimes. Otherwise humara common nahihota as we have different tastes. Usually Barun and Amartya (Ray) are very fond of rock, so most of the time they talk about rock music. I get bored, put on my headphones and start listening to Bollywood or Latin music. There is no food connection also as we aren't foodies. Barun is not at all particular about food. Usko do nahi do, he is fine with anything — he can have a sukha roti as well as an aloo paratha.

NRIs like Katrina and Nargis Fakhri have struck a chord with the Indian audience. So what do you think of your chances?
I don't know. If they like them, it's a plus point for me definitely. But how much it works for me I don't know. Of course, main chahungi ki main Katrina ban jaun, kaun nahi chahega batao!. If it has to happen, it will happen.

How do you maintain the bikin bod?
I work out a lot, it's a stress buster for me because I am a very quiet person. If I don't work out, I become very irritable. There's a gym in Tolly Club, were we are staying, so I go and work out there. I also take care of my diet. It's now a lifestyle change.

Do you and Barun work out together?
Barun is sometimes regular, sometimes not...though he has been working out since he was 17. Everytime I used to see him after a gap of few months in Mumbai, I would see a change in his body. Either he would put on weight or look leaner, I was like karta kya hai tu? He said, abhi workout chhor dia, to thoda badh gaya hai. We have been rehearsing in Mumbai, so every month we meet at least once to go over the script or scenes.

Have you met Barun's wife Pashmeen Manchanda yet?
No, I haven't met her yet because we haven't met personally. We have only met through Mitali. I hope to meet her soon though.

You have been told you look similar to Sanaya Irani, right?
Yes, I have been told that. I like her, she seems like an interesting person. She is coming on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, right?

Barun Sobti set to romance Suzanna Mukherjee in Kolkata

The newcomer's innocent smile prompted director Mitali Ghoshal to cast her opposite the TV heartthrob

The cat is out of the bag. BarunSobti fans, who have long been speculating who their fave hero would romance on the big screen, can now rest their case. Newcomer SuzannaMukherjee has bagged the role in MitaliGhoshal's 22 Yards. The girl will start shooting from August 20 in Kolkata.

"She plays a Bengali girl, Shonali, who is a sports journalist. Though I auditioned a lot of girls, what struck me about Suzanna was her innocent smile," said Mitali.

Suzanna was earlier part of Bolly flick TutiyaDil and her projects on the small screen include Roadies, Roomie and Emotional Atyachaar. "Till the second round of the auditions, I didn't know about Barun. After hearing about him, I looked up the net and saw episodes of IssPyaarKoKyaNaamDoon? He came across as very good-looking. Also, everybody in my family watches TV and knew who he was. I met Barun for a few workshops in Mumbai and liked his work. As a person, he is very simple. Despite being so popular, he isn't fussy," she said.

Though born to a Bengali father and a Ukrainian mother, Suzanna is nervous about playing a Bengali girl. "The character is very different from what I am in real life," said Suzanna.

Something bigger waiting for me: Sanaya Irani
"Chhanchhan" kicked off with fanfare in March this year, but its TRPs couldn't take off in a big way. Now, the show is going off air and Sanaya Irani, who plays the title role in it, says it's a logical decision to end the show.

"The show is going off air. It wasn't gaining TRPs ... any show that doesn't have TRPs shouldn't be on-air, so there is nothing left to say," said the actress on the sets of the show on Tuesday.

"I believe everything that happens in my life happens for a reason. So, I believe something bigger is waiting for me, that is why this has happened," said Sanaya.

She had earlier worked in successful shows like "Miley Jab Hum Tum" on Star One and "Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?" on Star Plus.
