FGSN EPISODE 72 – I AM SCARED
“I'm going to tell you a great secret I fear you
Fear what goes with you to the window in the evening
The gestures you make with unsaid words
I fear time rapid and slow I fear you”
Fear is the strongest feeling that preys on one’s mind and makes the life difficult; maybe it is the strongest one. It is our fears that prevent us from being successful, progressing, owning our lives and enjoying our happiness to the fullest. It is worse if it is a fear of losing. When you are happy and successful and if you are winning then you are afraid of losing even more; because there are more to lose and they are not easy to give up. Why would you be afraid if you don’t have anything to lose? The power of the fear increases as the things you could lose increase and as they are accompanied by the uncertainties, secrets, and shadows from the past. The time can be remorseless and treacherous; because it sometimes rips off whatever you have without you even realizing it. Kerim and Fatmagul fear. They fear even more as their love to each other grows, as they have positive things in their lives, and as they start their lives from the scratch. They are afraid of their happiness to be destroyed and they are afraid of losing each other and all the good things that they have just started having and sharing; because even though everything looks fine, the shadows of the past, many unspoken things, and fears from the past accompany their increasing and indispensible happiness. Fatmagul can’t even smile while she is settling in her dream house and in her kitchen and while she is watching the man he loved working in her garden. She is afraid that this is nothing but a dream and she is afraid of losing all these good things. Even though everybody at home try to hide Erdogan’s arrest from Fatmagul, his return makes his existence more palpable even though he was arrested. Her fear grows more with his existence. This fear preys on her mind and her heart while she looks at her house, all the good things that she owns, and Kerim with love.
Kerim fears even more. He is afraid of the unspoken past, existence of the feelings that he tried to ignore by sweeping them under the rug of his subconscious, and the shadows constantly following them. He is afraid of being alone again even as he really started sharing his loneliness with someone for the first time. He is afraid that their love cannot be real and he is afraid of waking up from this dream. He is frightened to death to become like his parents.
To see, accept, and share the fear is the biggest step towards getting rid of this fear. When Fatmagul knocks Kerim’s door disseminating light underneath it at that night (thank God, there is a respectful person in the family), when she wipes his tears off, and when they share their fears and hug each other, she takes a big step towards overcoming their fears. And this is the real theme of this episode.
Fears are the main theme of this episode. Although it showed us the steps overcoming these fears, the real heart breaking lines of this episode is between Kerim and Emre as it did happen before in recent episodes. That’s why we have wished that Kerim had a friend like Emre since the beginning. Kerim needs a person who is out of the picture, who understands him, and whom he can pour his heart out. He was anxious and aggressive time to time because he couldn’t satisfy that need. Although the problems are lessened now, the important thing is Kerim has a friend and he tells his friend Emre these crucial words that stress his insufficiency: “I am not used to people doing things for me, and I feel uneasy.” There you go. This is one of the sentences that magnificently describe Kerim’s loneliness. He is unfair to himself when he blames himself for whining at that night. In fact, he has never whined as much as he needed to. He has a big sister who is very realistic, phony and callous. She probably protected her as much as she could; just like Rahmi protecting her sister as much as he could. How much was Rahmi able to protect Fatmagul from Mukaddes? Fatmagul is also very alone. But there is difference: Fatmagul’s parents did not abandon her and she has never doubted their love. They are always in her memories as loving parents. And Kerim? This is why Kerim’s fears are bigger.
You may think that it is unfair and sassy that Kerim is nervous about his step-mother; but he sees her like a thief who stole what he lost, what he couldn’t have and the childhood died on the vine. This may be very unfair opinion but Kerim is right in some respect. Even though we love and admire Dad Fahrettin and even though he tries hard to make amends for his failure, there is no excuse for either Fahrettin not to come for Kerim for all these years or the step-mother not to question him once why he didn’t go to his son and bring him there. We understand from the talks about the land issue and workshop money that Kerim and his future were previously discussed in the house in Australia. But they didn’t do anything until Kerim got into trouble. Kerim is resentful and he has every right to be resentful even if it was just for that. He is right because it is very difficult to see another woman in his mother’s place. Dad is also right because the very same woman never loved him. And this jealousy is wrong from this perspective. But Kerim is very right about his resentfulness on not being protected or looked after for all these years.
Didn’t Dad Fahrettin draw a rich father picture with his antique cars, his men, his grandiose behaviors, and his big words like “my fortune is your fortune” when he first arrived? What happened to that fortune all of a sudden? It looks like he ran out of money; because he sold the house in the forest to buy a humble house for Kerim and Fatmagul and he sold the land in Australia to buy the sleazy workshop. Now, all they have is their salaries? No Panic. Maybe our scenarists had a little bit of amnesia.
And we got a big hint about the final episode from their talk with Deniz, which we’ve already guessed before. Kerim and Fatmagul will go to Australia after the trial if the tickets don’t fall victim to writers’ amnesia or classic plots.
A little footnote: Kerim’s air kiss at the beginning of the episode is genetic; Dad Fahrettin also blows a kiss to his dear wife. You can check this.
Anyway, let’s continue with the fears. We aforementioned that people lived with their fears and these fears made their lives difficult. Sometimes, when you are in the middle of the fear empire, when fears besiege you and leave you breathless, the fear terrifies you and you can’t endure the fear itself rather than the things you are afraid of. When the things that terrify you happen and you are free of the weight of that fear, you feel a deep relaxation. As we said, fear itself weighs more than the things you are afraid of. And that’s why Erdogan seems very relaxed when he was caught and brought back to Turkey. Erdogan is relieved indeed.
However, other Yasarans are still in trouble. Selim, who is shortsighted, unprincipled, and didn’t do a single thing by himself without a help and who learned the hard way that it’s every man for himself, is now in difficult situation and he is the other person who deeply feels the fear. Hilmiye sees the end of the road for his son and she is scared a lot for him and she can be very dangerous. Perihan fears for herself but she has taken the risk long time ago. Munir and Resat struggle in chaos. Resat already threw in the towel. It is very funny to see him like that. But, it is very disgusting to see him to strangle Perihan during his crises. It is the ugly example of family violence. But the real ugly thing is that a strong woman like Perihan put up with this violence, ignored and did nothing about it. Know-all Meryem utters a minister’s name and plans to write to Fatma Sahin for help; what’s it got to do with it? Meanwhile, Perihan Yasaran abused by her husband and the writers, who made her live through this abuse, normalized the violence, they let Resat get away with it, and they gave another wonderful message. Why did they do this while everything was going so well? If Perihan called the police and put a complaint, then it would be the right social message.
I thought Ayce’s father was doing human-trafficking with his old fisherman boat and he wasn’t such a bad man. All of a sudden, he became a dangerous criminal mob leader who struck fear into his own daughter by using his lawyer (new Munir by the way). There should be some consistency between the scenario and the characters; unfortunately, they are not consistent here. Our writers see which way the wind is blowing and write scenario according to that; they first simplified everything to make Ayce sympathetic, than they suddenly made her father a ferocious criminal to be able to leave Selim alone.
Our new lawyer is bad. Munir is already bad. Omer and Kadir who meaninglessly wait in the corridors of the cort are awful. And we also have a problem with Mustafa’s lawyer. Yep! Mustafa! We can’t do without him. He is going to throw his endless money around in the prison. Since he can’t get this money legally, probably, our new victim will be Mustafa’s lawyer. If everybody will pay for their crimes at the end of this show then let them pay for their crimes as well so that occupations and their organizations shouldn’t be under suspicion. Of course, we keep Omer and Kadir apart from them; they are professional but they don’t look reputable, that’s all.
Kadir gets suspicious about Mukaddes as a part of his job; but what does know-all Meryem do? She doesn’t insist and question at all. Nobody questions Mukaddes and calls her to account enough. Everybody overlooks when it is Mukaddes; a couple of polite warnings and scowls, that’s all. Fahrettin’s intervention was unnecessary. Somebody should use their brains and should question this woman. Why don’t they question her when she asks the postman all the time? You need to read a letter to be able to write a letter. If it was a single letter, why would she write? Kerim and Meryem did not mention the letters under the bed to anybody; so why don’t they ask why on the earth this woman wrote a letter? Mukaddes is a taboo like Mustafa. They think that there is no action or excitement without them. They don’t care if the viewers fed up with them. Our writers are not sick and tired of this material within their easy reach.
Why is all that fuss about Murat’s ceremony? Let’s say that they come up with this scene to keep Mukaddes, who plays hooky all the time, away from the postman and to keep the excitement high, but what’s up with her hairdo and makeup as if she is going to a wedding?
When Fatmagul said “the garden is all messed up” during her talk with phony Meryem in the kitchen, I smiled thinking that “a meticulous housewife is born; she is going to grumble his family when her house gets messy.”
There are people who make us smile and warm our hearts in this show: like Esma who smiles just to spite her oppressive mother and neighborhood residents mounted this show as if they are characters from Halide Edip’s 100 years old novel “Beat the Bitch!”; like Emre who paints the window bars with his injured leg without questioning why he wasn’t invited to Kerim’s birthday party; and like Sami who has a big heart and is a beautiful person blossoming in a swamp and trying to help another one to blossom. Human Sami waits like human Kerim. Human Sami embraces like human Kerimand says “let this kid call me dad, let me be his dad, let’s get married.” Let Samis and Kerims be happy and be hope.
Kerim is human and he has humane feelings; Fatmagul and he are embarrassed at this point. I don’t understand why they are embarrassed from “bed” at this day and age. Let’s assume it is because they are excited.
Our couple is very beautiful in this episode in spite of all the ugliness and ugly voices surrounding them. For example, the scenes in the car are beautiful while they are on their way for renewing their family certificate book. When Fatmagul remembers their first picture taking, she puts Kerim’s hand on her heart. Why do you think she does that? It is because she realizes Kerim’s situation during that time for the first time. She understands how difficult it was for him. For the first time, she deeply feels that Kerim was a victim, too. She realizes the importance of those days and how Kerim’s settling for her paved the way for today. And therefore, she gratefully and affectionately puts his hand which comes to her aid when she needed the most onto her heart.
It is not very important how they posed when their pictures are taken. The most important thing is how they looked at each other. In the first picture scene, Fatmagul looked at Kerim with hate, disgust, and insult and Kerim looked at Fatmagul with shame. In the last picture scene, we see love, affection, and friendship in their looks.
When they renew their family certificate book in the register office, Fatmagul’s bickering to Kerim because of the picture is the proof of how far they came. It is very natural. “Look how I grin because of you.” Fatmagul, your smile is perfect. Kerim’s smile is beautiful too. Always smile and be happy. You chose the hard way instead of easy way. You blasted away your fears and evil. You chose to fight against them. You deserved all the happiness. We wish you lifetime happiness.

In asta cred ca va fi multa pregateala . Kerim si Gullia se pregatesc pentru nunta si henna . Familionul lafel . Mustafa se pregateste sa-l omoare pe Kerim .
Cred ca episodul se termina in momentul in care asasinul se pregateste sa traga cu pistolul .

Alias Indiana Jones corcit cu Spider Man .

Eu asa as face .

sanse ? nu stiu ....depinde de el unde merge in vacanta
