Engin Akyurek, I don’t know how to name you: my friend, my brother, the man teaching the meaning of admiration, a person whom I embraced as if I’ve known him for years even though I know nothing about him, an actor who nails me to the screen with his impeccable talent, a source of happiness who makes me smile unwittingly and who has his eyes shine with joy when he smiles, my sorrowful one whose face I want to take into my palms while wiping the tears from his left eye flowing down his cheeks when he cries, or in short, our family member whom we always cherish in our hearts and in our home as himself or the characters that he gives life and the only actor for whom I have difficulty in expressing my feelings.

While I still couldn’t figure out how to name you, how can I build sentences describing your unbelievable talent, your handsomeness that conquered young women’s heart, and your loving and humble personality which I assume so? Maybe you don’t like the long sentences praising you. I don’t like them either; because I believe the longer the praise the more unrealistic it is. I don’t know if you realize that you are so lucky. You have a fan page like Engin Akyurek Universal Fans Club where people who admire your talent meet. I know my Turkish is bad. I remember that we had to move four five years ago. I am not Azerbaijani, but a lot of Azerbaijani use Hotbird and Turksat in their homes. I was forced to use Turksat, and although I had no intentions of learning Turkish, watching various Turkish shows, I learned Turkish.
I remember watching the “Turkiye’nin Yildizlari” show, and then “Yabanci Damat,” and later “Karayilan,” but because I didn’t understand Turkish, I was not a consistent viewer. I only noticed Engin Akyurek in “Bir Bulut Olsam.” I said to myself, “Wow, this man is a fabulous actor,” and then everything started for me. Just to be able to hear his magical voice and understand his language, I started watching more television, and continued with “Fatmagulun Sucu Ne?” just because “Mustafa” was playing in this show. I continued watching the show, making lots of great, on-line Turkish friends, joining fan pages, including this great page, and finally taking a Turkish course.
Dear Engin, I don’t know if you are aware of the fact that in Iran, Facebook and Youtube are prohibited; even Uydu is prohibited. But, for you, I even opened an Engin Akyurek fans page on Facebook. I came all the way to Istanbul just to see you! I remember that great day, and constantly look at the pictures from my visit with great joy and excitement.
I have written accounts of my visit on the notes section of my page, as well. But, I love your magical voice, your incredible eyes, your stance, your acting and emotional range. I love everything about you, as we all do. We are all fans, fanatical fans! And, because of you, I have made so many great and wonderful friends. I don’t know if it is possible to describe the depth of my feelings for Engin Akyurek. He entered into our lives as part of the “Turkiye’nin Yildizlari” Show. I don’t know if many people believed he would be this successful or popular. But, he made a place in our hearts with great acting talent and his responsible and dedicated behavior. He had made a place for himself from the beginning, but what really made him a household name, without a doubt, was his role in “Bir Bulut Olsam.” In this role, he was able to show us a soft, sweet, innocent love and he bound us to himself. Now, whatever he does, whatever role he takes on, we are behind him, supporting him. We support him because we love him; he is a magical, talented, disciplined actor, and he is always going to be successful, which we have no doubt, and we are going to love and support him forever, in good days and bad. Twenty years from now, for us the only real actor will still be Engin Akyurek. As he becomes more successful, the prouder we are going to be; as long as he is with us, we are all going to say Engin Tekyurek (Engin Oneheart). Dear Engin bey, I want to say that although I have admired some actors for their acting skills before watching you, you made the difference for me. Because you are the only one with so so so expressive eyes, that can convey every feeling of the portraying person, even a variety of emotions in just a few seconds, without the need of speaking. I believe that’s what made the difference first of all when I started watching your acting. Because I have also seen some other actors expressing feelings with their eyes, but not to this great extent as you. Of course, after watching more, I also admired your facial and vocal expression, but I wanted to talk about my first impression of you.
Now, I would like to talk about the role of Kerim Ilgaz, because that’s the role of yours that I have mostly watched. I have repeated watching your scenes many times, but again I would like to talk about my first impression, when I discovered the series and I was watching the scenes for the first time. So, while watching you in “Fatmagulun sucu ne?”, I felt deeply in my heart the warmness which Kerim wanted to give to Fatmagul. The warmness, the relief from the pain and the love that Kerim was giving to Fatmagul. I felt that my heart was also warmed. And I believe that this can be felt by every woman, especially by those who are traumatized and wounded, not necessarily raped, but women who are wounded phychologically in any way and are suffering.

Harrumph! Harrumph! I wanted to write something as well but words are not enough for my Engin. I know my only one Engin from the competition. Then, I watched my love in “Foreign Groom” and “Karayilan.” But I wasn’t fan of him back then. Then I watched “I wish I were a Cloud” and I was so attached to him right there that I can’t take myself off of him now. I loved him so much there. As I learned his personality, I fell in love with you once more and I was very proud to be fan of him. When I learned that he was going to be in FGSN series, I was on cloud nine. I wish my Turkish was good and I could write beautiful things as you did. Engin Akyurek turned everything upside down form me. I met him in Turkey’s Stars competition and I liked him. Our dark son’s dark eyebrows and dark eyes were enough to like him anyways. :) I watched and liked him in Foreign Groom as well but I was never fan of him until I watched “I Wish I Were a Cloud”. Mustafa Bulut said “Boş ol... Boş ol... Boş ol...” (It’s the equivalent of the Arabic word “Talaq”used for repudiating the marriage - translator) and I said “This is the actor.” He said “Narin, where are you?” and nothing was the same anymore and I have become an Engin Fan. I was never interested in internet and now there is not a single day that I don’t check Facebook. Because of him, I learned how to shop and make a video. :) I became a page admin and I frantically voted for surveys about Engin with my friends. But the most important thing is that I made many good friends because of Engin. Even though I am very far away from them, I am happy by their happiness, I am sad by their sadness. They are my elder or younger sisters. I really do appreciate Engin just for this. You are a man whose face reflects goodness in his heart; so glad that you were born, so glad that we have you. May your new age bring you happiness and success. May your wishes come true; but our Dark Son, please don’t deny yourself to us. Rumi said “No need to say every word; one look is enough to say thousand words to the wise.” Engin, may the light in your eyes never fade away and may your star always shine.

Everybody is writing something and I decided write as well. I have been quietly following the pages for a long time. Maybe, I am expostulating. I just want to say this. Let me cut to the chase.
I belive that human’s only best virtue is goodness. If you don’t have a character, you can’t be a big artist or great fighting leader but an empty creature destined to dissipate by time. Beethoven said “The only question is to be really great, not to seem great.” I shared this quote yesterday as well and I think it is very true. Engin was never one of those dull personalities and he can’t be. He has always been a gentlemans and humble person. He has preffered to have a secluded life away from the tabloids and the media.Did anything change? No. Engin is the same Engin. He has continued on the path which he thought it was the right path. He has never conceded. But, some people are trying to gain favor by using him. We, people who really love him, always support him. Once again, Beethoven said “Ne demiş Beethoven: “The only question is to be really great, not to seem great.” ENGIN AKYUREK, YOU ARE GREAT AND YOU ARE A REAL MAN. God Speed! Hello, Beautiful Person!

Your show is over, but we can’t get over you! As Ozdemir Asaf said, is this a city populated by only you, that when you leave, it will become empty? But, yes, it is like that; this huge, crowded city is empty without you. Those of us who love you, who are your fans look for the smallest bit of news about you, ask whomever we see for information about you. We know you deserve all the love and respect showered onto you. I know that you are a powerful actor with a strong future ahead of you, and will make us proud and happy when you play other interesting characters worthy of your talents. We miss you so much, and our strong affection and emotions for you will only lessen when you return to the screen. We understand you; you are tired, exhausted and need to rest. Relax, enjoy yourself, get rest; you have already conquered our hearts and minds, and we will wait for you forever. We have become like those singers who write songs about not giving up a single one of their loved one’s sweet smiles for a thousand nights of pleasure; we have come to ask clocks and watches when you are going to return, when is it “Engin time?” This season is going to be completely empty for me. I don’t even want to watch any television without you in a show. You showed such great acting skill that I don’t like any other actor; when I compare them to you, they don’t make me smile like you did, they don’t make me laugh like you did, they don’t make me believe, like you did. You lived the characters you played, not just recite the words. I will never forget the Mustafa Bulut character. I am overcome with emotion and can’t speak through my tears. I would applaud you unceasingly for hours on end, on my feet, without ever getting tired.

I wish you all the happiness and luck in the world. All the middle aged women think how well fatherhood becomes you and therefore, I look forward to the days you become a father. Many happy returns, Engin Bey!

For years you have been the object of my respect, admiration, and affection. I gradually loved you as an actor as a person as you infiltrated into my heart and filled it lovingly. My journey with you started with Yabanci Damat, Kadir, Karayilan, Bir Bulut Olsam (sealed it) and Fatmagulun Sucu Ne and will continue for my lifetime.

Most fan clubs of yours are aware how I admire you. If you read my comments you will know this is not an instant thing. I write to you always with love and sincerity from my heart. I wish these words become a miracle and infiltrate into your heart like you did mine and touch your soul and just show you how much Hanniyah has good wishes for you. I hope happiness, joy, and the very best will be yours always. And you get all your heart desires; mostly I Allah will protect you from your head to your toes so that no one can harm you ever. May Allah protect your personal and professional life from all evil. May you succeed in whatever you do and may you be lucky always.

You are so special in every way. You hold me spellbound by your talent, personality and charm. I absorb your news like a sponge, you enchant the screen and the camera loves you like I do. I overcome my shyness and get personality transformed when it comes to writing about you. My words love you and adore you, they are enchanted by you. You have a million different smile that take me places only dreams are made off, smiles that play a beautiful symphony in my heart and mind and make the whole world shine and I feel a million sensation at the same time.

I have watched many shows till now; I have even become a fan of many of the actors on the shows that I have watched. But, once the show was over, my attraction to the actors was over, too. Except for Engin Akyurek. My interest and fascination with Engin Akyurek has continued and grown; his talent, abilities, and the fact that he does not give magazines fodder for gossip, and his desire to remain true to himself has only created caused me to respect him even more. My greatest desire is to see him in a project that showcases his worth and acting abilities. Happy Birthday, Engin Akyurek! I wish you great luck and fortune and open roads for your future. Perhaps you were born in the middle of the night to a house filled with love and joy, or at dawn, with the sun’s first rays to welcome your birth? Perhaps, your parents, as all parents do took you into their arms, and named you Engin so that you fill up the open seas and still gush out! Happy birthday, Engin; thank God you were born. We learned from you who is a real actor and those who say they are actors. How wonderful for us! We learned to respect someone who respects himself; someone who is honest, proud, strong, and committed. No thanks would be enough to parents such as yours, who raised such a wonderful son. Since you left the television screen, we haven’t watched any other shows; we haven’t been able to watch any television. After we saw your masterful acting, we find other actors lacking, talentless. You are a person worthy of respect and great talent, and because of you, we have introduced our country and culture to Bulgaria, Greece and to Arab countries, where they first talk about you, then about Turkey. Engin, we want to see you as soon as possible on the screen, in a special project worthy of your talents and capabilities, and we wait with great excitement and impatience for such a project. I am not going to hide behind the words to tell you the admiration and love I feel for Engin; I don’t like gilded words since I don’t find them very sincere. I will tell you how I did things that I would never do at this age for Mr. Engin Akyurek and I am 37 years old. I guess your actions speak louder than your words when expressing what you feel for a person. My admiration and love for Engin started with Mustafa Bulut character and they peaked with Kerim Ilgaz. And everything started right there. From that moment on everything I did was out of my control. Maybe I didn’t do very fascinating things; but they were new and astounding things for a person at my age and at my position (I am a teacher). First I entered into the cyber world because of Engin. I created Twitter and Facebook accounts. I lied to the training center that I had been working at weekends to be able to go to the set where he worked as if I am an adolescent and I went there with a person I never met before. I collected books to be able to build a library for Engin by lying to my friends and my students. I shuttled between the florists to select flowers to send him on his birthday. I watched very boring programs which were tremendously torturing just to be able to get some news about Engin. I started following tabloid sites and I don’t even want to mention the discussions I got into with adolescents. Furthermore, at home they made fun of me by saying “My aunt is in love with Kerim.” By the way, I got a computer training to be able to share better Engin pictures and news at the page I often visit. Maybe all the things I did are nothing compared to what have been done here but as I said that was a milestone for me and if someone told me that I would do these things, I would laugh at them and say them not to be ridiculous.

Do I feel regret? No! I think I have many more things to do for Engin. And I do it as long as he is with us and his smiling face never fades. I wish him a Happy Birthday.
