An excerpt from Oya Tekin’s commentary about the two upcoming TV series. We translated the part where she mentioned Dirty Money & Love.

As for Dirty Money & Love, it was going to be aired on ATV this week. However, they suddenly decided to delay it for a week. This series also has been one of the highly anticipated projects. We didn’t know its leading actress until recently although its leading actor was announced long time ago.

When they came to an agreement with Tuba Buyukustun at last, the preparations for the series were sped up and now, we are counting down the days till it starts.

People had been talking about bringing Engin Akyurek and Tuba Buyukustun together for quite some time and this desire is realized by Dirty Money & Love. Good that it happened; Engin Akyurek and Tuba Buyukustun made us get excited without even watching them. Their fans are impatiently waiting for them now.

Engin Akyurek became known after Turkey’s Stars competition. He was born to act. I didn’t verify the following; but, I believe he is the most successful or even the only name coming from the talent competitions recently. People usually don’t know much about his acting career; they talk or write about him as if he was recently discovered. However, he has a very rich acting career. Even though people usually relate him to “What is Fatmagul’s Fault?” or “Foreign Groom”, he gave life to many characters. For me, Nizipli and crazy Mustafa, and lastly Tek are the most important characters which he shown his acting talent. I don’t know if he became the characters or characters gained meaning with him but acting is in his bones. And he is one of the rare people who advanced in his career without appearing in the tabloids. Now he is coming back as Omer after a long break.

Tuba Büyüküstün is like our daughter. We love seeing her on the screen. Even though I wasn’t satisfied with the “Zarife” character she played in “Çemberimde Gül Oya,” I believe that it is not because of her, considering her acting. I mean it is not because Tuba can’t act but it is because producers want to feature her beauty rather than her acting since she has a beautiful screen face. Therefore, I always feel like something is missing when I watch her since she wasn’t able to reflect the real actress in her. But, I still love watching her. I prefer seeing Tuba rather than seeing clothe hangers (She means actresses showing up in nice dresses rather than acting in TV series.)

And I believe that they are going to be a very nice couple in this series. The series has a very strong cast with veteran actors like Nebehat Cehre and Erkan Can. Its director is Ahment Katiksiz. Its scenarists are the loved duo, Sema Ergenekon and Eylem Canpolat.

Both series (Dirty Money and Love and Kurt Seyit and Sura) are highly anticipated series. Even though Dirty Money and Love has a strong cast, something is missing. I don’t know if it is because they decided the leading actress at the last minute and therefore they were in a hurry to film the series or something else, but there is something missing in its promotions. It doesn’t excite and intrigue me.

The trailers are not exciting and interesting, and this makes you feel like something is missing. I hope that the episode won’t make us feel the same way. If the first episode is not impressive, people are turning their back to the series without caring its actors. I hope they are not dismissing this fact.

We saw a visual feast in the promotions of “Kurt Seyit and Sura.” We want to see the same thing in “Dirty Money & Love.” We are very excited about its actors and we want to feel the same excitement for the series itself. And it seems that Dirty Money and Love’s promotions are a little bit weak compare to “Kurt Seyit and Sura.” We couldn’t see anything that aroused our curiosity based on the trailers released until now.

I don’t think that they will have a difficult time against “Magnificent Century” on Wednesdays because ATV backs the series if its rating is above certain level. This series will be above the average with its cast even though it may not be the leader of the night.
But, I am not sure if this will secure its continuity; because, these trailers don’t intrigue us about the story. I hope that they don’t think that everything will be fine because they have a good cast. Otherwise, they will be wasting these brilliant actors.

If this series overcomes these details, then it will be one of the indispensables of Wednesday nights. If they are not challenged by another strong project next year, they will be the new winner of Wednesday nights. As I said, this will happen if they can make the story more appealing and if they could fill that feeling of “something is missing” in the first episode.

We haven’t been able to see exciting and intriguing projects for quite some time. When we heard about these two projects, we got excited. I hope we won’t be disappointed. I wish them high ratings. Godspeed!

   Atât de puține episoade va avea serialul? Mă așteptam să fie mai lung.

O primăvară plină de dragoste și de împliniri.

Îmi place noul promo. Poate că e mai bine așa,cu episoade mai puține. Mai scurt,mai intens,de acțiune,să ne țină cu sufletul la gură de la un episod la altul,fără prea multe scene de umplutură.Vom vedea ce va ieși.

In an interview you said that the chemistry between the leading actors is very important. Does it exist between you and Engin Akyürek?

I came in the project when the shootings have already been started. Engin' scenes were finished at that time. We are filming together since two weeks. it's going well.



From the trailer s it looks like there is harmony.

What's KPA?

Fascinating and complicated love story. I loved the script and red it with curiosity. Nowadays there are not much such interesting scenarios to read.



How did you get involved with the project?

When I read the script in October - November when the production was meant to start. I wanted to have time for my family and to relax. I didn't feel ready but some parts of scenario stayed in my mind. Months passed, and we met for this project again. I had a chance to rest and to spend time with my family. And the shootings began.



What kind of a person is the character you portray?

She is from an upper class family, Elif is the middle child. Family is proud of her. She has her own jewelry shop in Rome.

Her parents and sisters go visit her. She is the daddy darling. They are very attached to each other. The story begins when she comes to istanbul to see her family at her Bday.

It's a  love story, but different from the classic love stories we know.



There is a sentence in the trailer "You can trust everyone until the first lie". How this sentence reflects the story?

Elif things they are very happy family. Her mother, Zerin is dominant character, trying to keep family together and in perfect state, like in her dreams.

Elif even leaving abroad from her sisters is the one to keep balance in the family. Her family is proud of her, she is her fathers darling...

But the reality is different and Elif will be hurt when she learns things she didn't know. She will getting to know different faces of the people she has been trusting. people she trusted lead different lives. The only one she will trust will be Ömer who she newly got know.

The sentence will not only affect Elif but all the characters.



What makes Elif-Ömer love story different?

With the time the magic of love doesn't grow, soul mates find each other, and it becomes a legend, said writers. In this sense E&O will be different. They live very different lives but with similar values. They have to deal with loss of the loved ones. Events will happen very different to what they except and they will have to react fast. Living completely different lives, the will step on common path, dealing with their own and the others pain. Their relationship will be build on this path, where there is no one to trust, exploring each others dramatic developments.  

I think the audience will get involved with excitement in this.
