Tuba Büyüküstün: I haven’t loved my husband at first sight and there is a special chemistry between me and Cansel Elçin (Murat teacher).

Tuba Büyüküstün has become the most popular and famous star among the Turkish actresses in Arab world after she declared her rebellion in “Asi” series which transferred her overnight to the ranks of women icon for the Arab audience. “Not only for her natural and soft beauty but also for her interpretation with an apparent ease, her delicacy and her proximity of the hearts”, in the words of her lovers “fans”, and there are a lot of them! Now she is recuperating the name of “Lamiss”, which she carried in ”Ihlamurlar Altinda”, in the series “Gonülçelen” whom is gaining an immense popularity and in which she acted with the actor Cansel Elçin (Murat). So what would say our newly married guest in this exclusive interview?

Our Turkish guest who abandoned fashion design to devote herself to her real passion acting, found a new love from a flesh and blood this time, in the person of the actor Onur Saylak with whom she get married last July. Tuba who is known as very reserved with reference to her private life, did not use, as usual, the right of veto against our questions; but she talked about her love and her husband even if she did it in a succinct way. First of all, we tried to know the secret of her popularity in Arab world, so we asked her:

What does it mean to you that you have become a symbol in the Arab world, where the public does not even know your language? What is the secret in your opinion?
- The Main reason is due to the fact that the stories and topics addressed by the Turkish series are not limited to Turkish people but go beyond to people and nations that have a similar culture and feelings. I think that what is offered by those projects catch the interest and the feelings of people in the Middle East, especially the Arabs. In the end, we live in the same area and we have the same feelings and the same problems and we experience similar living conditions; and therefore, the stories and the emotions we present in our series are universal themes and feelings. As for me, it is a great honour to be loved by Arab people and to benefit from this considerable support out of my country. This is a blessing for me, Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

In your opinion, will the Turkish series have won all that success if they weren’t dubbed into Arabic?
- Honestly, I can not give my opinion on this topic. I am Turkish and I know very well the specificity of the audience in my country and how it deals with the projects presented. But I do not know the Arabs, how they deal with our series and their habits in watching TV, so I do not know whether it will succeed without dubbing or not.

In a previous interview with Snob Magazine, you have said that you would like to learn Arabic, where is that wish now?
- In fact, I haven’t begun yet formally, it is a very difficult language! But I know a few words and short sentences and phrases.

In the same interview, you have mentioned that you have learnt singing for your role in “Gönülçelen”, do you have any intention to become a singer besides acting?
- I am first and last an actress, and I think only in acting. On the other hand, there is no need to become a singer since there are so many talented and professional singers who have wonderful voices.

“Demir” or “Murat (Teacher)”?

"I have enough intelligence to realize that beauty alone is nothing at all, and has no value!"

"I do not know the Arabs, nor their habits in watching Tv and how they deal with our series."

With reference to “Gönülçelen”, Did you find as Arab viewers did, that there is a natural chemistry between you and the actor Cansel Elçin “Murat”?
- Yes, it is true, especially on screen between us. And the chemistry between the actors is very important for any acting project since without it, the public will not believe us and the project will not succeed.

On the other hand there are fans who prefer you with Murat Yıldırım (Demir) and who consider that you have formed together a more successful couple, what is your comment?
- The story of Asi series that I have performed with Murat is completely different from “Gonulçelen” with Cansel . And the role of “Demir” is very different from the character “Murat”. Also, both actors differ from each other in their character and their way of performing. Personally, I love and get attached to each character I perform and every role I play.

What about the tension between you and Murat Yıldırım (Demir) following his negative comments against you? Is the dispute still ongoing? And why, in your opinion, he said what he said?
- I have not heard or read anything negative on behalf of him against me from all what has been mentioned, said and attributed to him. But I think that, as a professional actor, he couldn’t have said or uttered such negative things.

We heard about a joint Arab - Turkish movie in which you are the leading actress. How true is that?
- No, there is no such thing up to now. I haven’t received any offer about any movie project of this kind though I welcome the idea of course.

It has also been said there is series project which brings you together with the most prominent Arabs and Turkish stars?
- That is a rumor. But as a matter of principle, I do not mind at all participating in a project of this kind. The most important thing for me has been always the quality of what I present and the story it deals with.

Is it true you're considering buying a house in an Arab country, is likely to be Lebanon?
- This is also rumor. I didn’t plan for such thing and nothing like that occurred. Also, the idea has not been raised for me so far.

How true is what has been said about the fact you haven’t accepted acting along with Kenan İmirzalioğlu (Ezel)?
- Such news have spread in Turkey as well. But this is not true at all. I haven’t refused any project with Kenan. He is, in my opinion, one of the best actors in Turkey and the most important of them currently.

Why do you always decline being compared to other stars who have won a large popularity in Arab world?
- The popularity has never been a goal for me, but the continuity has been always all what I was seeking. I have no concern with the comparison with anyone, because in the origin, each person is different from the other and therefore, I don’t resemble the others. I have my own way that I am taking.

It is said that the love with your husband Onur Saylak began during the shooting of “Gonulçelen”, was it love at first sight?
- No, it was not a love at first sight and its story did not begin between us during the shooting of the series. Onur and I know each other before working together in “Gonulçelen”. We were good and very close friends for nearly five years.

Does he have the characteristics that you were wishing for your life partner?
- When someone falls in love, there are no longer the specifications of the man of his dreams and the features set out in his mind and the ones he wanted in his partner in life. It is just love, and nothing else.

Why did you decide to marry in total secrecy in France, which has disappointed your fans who were expecting a public celebration?
- We have not get married secretly, but we have just wanted to celebrate the wedding with relatives and family. The number of guests in the wedding has not extended twenty people. And during the marriage ceremony we weren’t an actor and an actress but just a man and a woman.

Is it true that you are pregnant with twin girls, and that you have been obliged to cancel many projects because of pregnancy?
- This year, I had already decided to not commit to any acting project and therefore I did not cancel anyone.

You have previously stated to Snob Magazine that you are absolutely against plastic surgery? Do you still have the same opinion?
- Yes, I consider that there is no justification for any plastic surgeries except in the case of deformities, as for all the rest, I am totally against it. I cannot find any justification for those who resort to it. I still consider that the greatest grace is that I am at peace with my body and my soul. I repeat my advice to everyone that they also have to be at peace with their bodies and their souls.

What added to your fame and stardom, the fact that you are Pantene ambassador for two years respectively?
- I am very happy to work with this well-known brand. Personally I used Pantene and I am very satisfied with its products and the technology it adopts; both of us are enjoying working with each other because both of us understand the other one and because we share the same values.

As the ambassador of Pantene, how did you take care of your hair to preserve your image?
- I think that the periodic and right care of hair makes it healthier and stronger over time. So, after washing it with shampoo I always put the conditioner and the special care cream. Through these steps, I get the best result from each product.

But didn’t your beauty play a significant and fundamental role in your access to stardom?
- I know that I am beautiful and I don’t deny it. But there are a lot of beautiful women; and I have enough intelligence to realize that beauty alone is nothing at all, and it has no value! My advice to women is to ascertain this. If I rely solely on my beauty without intelligence and talent, my charm will fade and disappear when I start speaking.

What hobbies are still dreams for you?
- I adore designing everything that is new in this life. And, I still wish to act on stage, as well as to design the stage and its decoration.

Rapidly the Turkish actor Cansel Elcin took his a special place in the Arab viewers hearts , after he won their admiration by his role as Murat Hoca in " Roses seller " series with the well known actress Tuba Buykustun " Lamis" .
Cansel Elcin has a calm & peaceful personality to extremes, when he talks, you can notice that he chooses his words carefully, as you can notice that he's so tender & distinct. the conversation with him is so enjoyable .
We met in Istanbul exclusively, he revealed to us a lot of the secrets about the series , the hidden & unknown side of his personality , the period when he was living in Paris & his love of traveling
After receiving an offer for your role in "Roses seller" Gonulcelen & reading the scenario, How did you prepare to this role?

Before talking about " Roses seller" GC, i would love to say that i am so proud of my previous series " Remember my dear " with Beren saat " Sammar" , after we finished this series , i felt that i need at least a year for resting ,At that time , i participate with my own cinema movie " Bare foots in the university campus" , after the movie directly "Tomris Giritlioglu" offered Murat's role in " Roses Seller" GC" to me .. I knew it's an attractive character who knows so well about the music , which brought out my excitement .

Murat's role was fitting you a lot?
It affected me a lot, i mean regarding to my knowledge of music, as for me being in the middle of a story of music , it's very interesting & enjoyable thing really.

Murat was playing Piano , did it represent any pressure or difficulty on you or you had a Prior knowledge about it?
Unfournately , I hadn't any experience with the Professionalism of the music ,Although, some families gave their children a training on musical instruments, i didn't get this chance ..But as i was living infrance i had to deal & face the music.

Were you born in turkey?
yes, i was born in Tira , i stayed there till the age of ten, then i moved with my family to France, i remember that my dad was humming with the lyrics if Zaky Muran songs, when the day came when i was asked to play a pianist role , at first i found so hard as i don't have any knowledge about this field , My Teacher Mucur Mine gave me Preliminary assistance at playing the piano , i trained for like four months , in spite, it wasn't enough to be came a professional as Murat who supposed to be a professional pianist but my main concern was to be able to play some musical pieces well as i couldn't read musical notes then too, but i discovered that i have a Musical ears...

do you still follow your piano lessons ?
Of course, i won't leave the piano & i am following the lessons.

What did you like most at this series?
On a side there's the folk neighborhood, on the other side, there's the palaces residents & despite, of the levels differences , we see that the emotions& love gather two people from those different worlds as a rich man fell in love with a gipsy girl when he tries to turn her to a classy professional singer.

Is it possible that a love could be born between 2 people from a completely different world in real life as we see in movies & novels?
Sure, it could happen as heart doesn't Subject to the orders or rules ,but it grows more & more when it faces difficulties & becomes more honest and beautiful. I think a strong love doesn't born if i didn't face Obstacles .
If we looked deeply we will see a lot of rich people but also we could notice that most of them aren't happy that's because they ground themselves in a Specific areas.

Do you thınk that there's a Lack of communication?
Yeah, i think they are having a lack of communication,, the worst thing that could happen is when someone isolates himself & locks his doors to the outside world. For me as an example, I live in a nice neighborhood , i go to the market & butcher by myself , it's important for the one to be able to go here & there and get in the public transporters , in my opinion , any actor shouldn't Desensitized away from his fans & he should communicate and be with them.

when the audience love a series , they try to get close the actors , for example in "Roses seller" Gonulcelen series , You & Tuba live a beautiful strong love story but in real life Tuba is married to Onur Saylak " Levent" in the series but while the series is playing the fans loved the chem. Between you & tuba , So do you think that those approaches are the reasons behind the success of your roles?
I think it came out from the goodness of the story which in turn made our roles looked real & realistic. As the series used the romance & love language & audience love this stories.

Can you tell us about a common or mutual memory happened in the series between you and Tuba?
whenever me, Onur & tuba met , we were laughing a lot , our director was district & nervous and he wasn't allowing us to laugh but his anxiety & distraction were making us laugh more , I remeber now that because of that we were shooting some scenes for like 10 times to get it right .. In fact tuba was able to stop herself while me & Onur were keep laughing.. Tuba dose her work so well , she's a direct & proficient actress.

Me, Beren and the Rain

We have watched Beren saat at "forbidden love" as " Samar" and you acted with her at ' Remember my dear" , what's the thing you can tell us about her?
When I first knew Beren, i was just arrived from France, this series was the first for both of us , I remember we were shooting at "Büyük ada" ( the big Island) , the director was so precise in his work. Recently , i have watched the 1st part of the series and again i felt that i am Fascinated by it . as our director showed this period of time with an unbelievable magnificence, he was taking us and make us flying, there was that scene when me and beren supposed to be looking at each others eyes while the seagulls flying in the background at the same time, we worked for 4 hours to get this scene as our director insisted to show the seagulls in the most wonderful possible way.
in another day, i walked out the hotel, in intention to go to the location, i was waiting for them to pick me up & the rain was coming down heavily that morning, i looked to find that Beren is waiting under the rain with me as well, (laughing) . we waited together for like 15 minutes, i made a phone call then they sent us a chariot to take us to the location .
For Beren she's really a good and hard working actress she takes her work seriously, not acting like spoiled girl at all and she has a slender sensation. i really love Beren for me she's "Jasmine" ( Beren's name at the series).

" Remember my dear" is the name of the series which is talking about this period when the presdient " Adnan Mandres" Was executed at the 60th of the last century , while you have no memory about this time?
Actually, All the stages the turkey has been through are getting my interest. I have read a lot of books about this period of time. also i have a knowledge about the time subsequent to " Deniz Gazmis" ( A student that has been executed for a political reasons0 as my dad told me about it, in my opinion, "Remember my dear" is a very important series , it's normal as it's impossible that everyone was feeling satisfied about the incidents of this time, but those incidents had to be told as now all who didn't know about it , had the chance to know a little , they started to read books about it and they had learn a lot of it .

How wonderful , when we find Cansel Elçin who lived in France away of Turkey for 30 years but he didn't seprate from his Hometown
No one can be separated from his Hometown, i wouldn't Cut off of Turkey even if i was in Australia not France, i served in the Army for a while of time as they brought 68 turkish youth from different countries all over the world and we all lived together , we are all part of this country.

Probably you still travel to France?
I do, whenever i get a chance,, i love visiting all the countries in the world , till now i did visit many of them already.

You had shoot a commercial with Zidan

Can we know you opinion at the Arabian men & women?
I lived & studied in France, while i was living there i got to know a lot of arab friends , i was living at the Suburban & we were so close to each other there as our & thier cultures have a lot of common , they sre loyal & honest people , there is a similarity in our points of view ,At the time i was studying , i also was working in Cafes & recusants at the week ends so were the arab boys as well.

Were there any celebrities living at the same suburban where you were living?
There were some celebrities from the French Football player as Zidan & Anelika , who i got to know.
In 2006 , I did shoot a commercial with zidan In Madrid. Actually what i most love in this life are 2 things, cinema & Football, i remember we played a match with the Formula Contists while they were inIstanbul , i really enjoyed it & we donated with the tickets price to some charity foundations that cares about poor children.

Do you know any Arabian Actor, singer or a theater actor?
I like the Moroccan artist "Jad Al malih" & there's this Lebanon actor but i don't remember the name now , i love him a lot & I love s shakira too , who has a Lebanese roots.

Is Cansel Elçin fond of?
I am feeling happy with my private life (escapıng from the answer)

What's love for you?
I love the creative & inventive love not the platonic, locked love . love not suppose to torture any of the sides .
When i fall in love, i like to be proud of it & to share life with whom i am in love with. i don't love the loneliness or sadness the life is too short .
Let's think for a while ,for example we spend 60 years , we lost half of it while we are sleeping , the other half while we are trying o compete & face life challenges & the time remains to us at the end is nothing.
people create problems ,troubles & they live into it without any reasonable reason that's why they feel sad.
If we looked at the life from a far a way place like the space for example, we will be able to see how small the things really are ,to the point that we will clearly see , there's no reason or importance for any inverted grief.
Basically, life isn't that complicated or hard. but we are the ones who will make it seem that way as long as we keep running after the anxieties , although this my opinion that i am saying now , sometimes i be unfair to myself.
SO i still see that the most enjoyable thing in the life is traveling around the world & meeting new different people..

Don't you think about getting married?
In my opinion Marriage happened when you truly fell in love & my marriage will be due love , making family is very value & important thing , i want to have my own babies , be a father , The more children i will have, the more I became happier...
I am not taking the fame seriously

How did the fame affected your private life?
I live in the TV world & we all know it's a temporarily world , today it's here but tomorrow it's not & people may forget about us so fast so that's why i am not taking the fame seriously, I really don't give it any attention . despite this, It's wonderful to be loved & known , people ask for tour signatures , taking pictures with you & sometime they asking for my opinion in some issues , for me it's an important feature & amazing feeling when you know that people out there
care for what's going on in your mind now? , what's concerns me? & what i am listening to?

Fans Listen to all for you" Celebrities" , taking you as idols , so that make you responsible for that?
Exactly, it's so true, that's why i am participating in the social responsibility plans, for example, I am refusing the violence against women ,i Participate in campaigns of this issue m another compaigns against drugs addiction.
Recently, Me, Tuba & Beren participated in a TV program that aim to collect donations for children with autism & during us people started to hear & care about this illness.

so you are saying that artist should be a cure for for the social illnesses??

Sure, artists are there in the fırst place for thıs, they lıve ın thıs society, they share people there experiences and feel pain for the social cases.

Does the theatre represent important thing in Cansel Elcin's life?
I did a lot of plays at the theatre in France but unfortunately , i couldn't make time for it in Turkey , because the working style in the Turkish series leave no time for the theatre , but i am persisting on attending theatre plays whenever i am at France or turkey extensively...those who have an experience in theatre are considered to be "Marathon runners" in the acting , the technical information that being gained from the theatre saved the actor in the Critical moments when he acts outside the theatre.
The theatre is such a status as if we are in a war, as we directly face the audience & that what makes a good actor.

what kind of plays , you have mostly played?
Most of it was comic plays .at the first time , i look at the audience to find them laughing loudly out of the scene but the next time at the same scene when l look at them , i find them laughing but with less enthusiastically, the theatre is a live, direct show full of life , that's why the Playwrights are preferred to be used in the TV because you can easily trust their abilities.

Do you have any special memory about the theatre?
I was participating in a play at Paris , there was a handicapped man "Blind" sitting in the front row infront of me directly, he never saw me of course but he was listening , this thing touched me inside so i worked on acting through my voice , that day i did the best performance ever which leaded me to sign for a casting agency after that i stared to tale parts at the series & commercials >** In France if the actor doesn't belong to an agency , they don't give him any attention.

Do you wish that one day you would make a theatrical play in Turkey?
I hope so a lot & sure this will happened one day.

Did you ever visit any Arab Country?
i traveled to Morocco once , i loved Marrakesh a lot , also i visited Tunisia & Senegal . Each country has it's own special flavor , as America,Tuisia , Mexico, Turkey and Africa , has it's own flavor. Once you get out of the plane & smell a country's air , you feel it has a different & unique flavor .. Now i wish i can visit Somalia, Tanzania & Lebanon. & Dubai as it really get my interest to visit it .

Multumesc Costina ,cred ca voi incerca ,dar acum nu mai simt nevoia de a consuma cafea,mai bine fara,am baut multa cafea dar acum probabil m-am dezobisnuit si ma afecteaza imediat,daca mai ,,scap ''la o cafea,Astept clipul!!!!! 59. Multumim Dana pt. interviuri ,interesante declaratii si mai ales recunosterea unor lucruri pe care le-am vazut si noi[mai ales chimia dintre ei T&C]Cansel nu poti spune decat jos palaria in fata lui ,le-am citit cu Google si am inteles aproape tot ce a zis,si el revede acum ,, Hatirla Sevgili'',si mie imi place mult de si sant forte amarata ca nu inteleg tot ce vorbesc, 59.
