Marathi actors Vijay Kadam and Sushma Bhagwat to enter in Madhubala!

Nautanki Films production Colors Madhubala- Ek Ishq Ek Junoon has constantly been throwing in surprises for audiences and there has been galore of drama. And in attempt to grab more eyeballs the creative team has written an interesting rack wherein two new faces would be introduce.

Veteran Marathi actors Vijay Kadam and Sushma Bhagwat will enter the show as a Marathi couple. According to sources, “The upcoming episodes will be a high dose of drama after Padmini (Pallavi Purohit) is arrested for killing Balraj (Raj Zutshi). However, Madhu will play the role of a saviour and will save her from been punished by the court of law. After this entire tragedy RK will plan a picnic for both the families.”

They added, “Furthermore, while the lead couple of RK-Madhu are on their way to the picnic spot they will take a shortcut and will go astray in the jungle. Finally, RK-Madhu will reach a village in Maharashtra and a Marathi couple played by Vijay Kadam and Sushma Bhagwat will allow them to stay at their place. This track will witness some cute, funny and romantic moments between RK-Madhu.”

Finally with this track the fans of RK and Madhu will get to see some lovey-dovey moments!

Padmini behind bars in Madhubala
Madhu supports her mother and fights for her bail in Madhubala: Ek Ishq Ek Junoon...

As seen in the earlier episodes that RK tries to save Madhubala from Balraj. In tonight's episode we will see Balraj is shot by Padmini and he dies.

In the upcoming episode of the show we will see Padmini is put behind bars for killing Balraj. Madhu supports her mother in the court and tries to prove her innocent. She succeeds in proving her mother innocent and hence Padmini is released from the jail.

After this sequence we will see that Malik marries Padmini.

Drashti Dhami lets her hair down...parties her heart out..as seen in this picture

Drashti Dhami is a lovely, beautiful lady and a superb actress. There is not an iota of doubt about it. As Madhu in Colors’ Madhubala, she has been stabbing hearts of TV viewers with her poignant and precise performance.

She works really hard and when blessed with leisurely hours, loves to party hard. And is it not good to see Drashti letting her hair down and having fun? Of course yes.

And now just check the pic above. What can we see? Well, Drashti having a gala time with his loved ones. Isn’t it amazing to see your favourite bahu of television in a different avatar altogether? You bet!!!

Apparently this picture was taken when she was partying with family and friends recently. Drashti seems to be in high spirits while playing a fun game of truth and dare (apparently). We wonder what dark secrets did she reveal? (wink wink).

Madhu to dance to 'Bindiya Chamkegi' in Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon

'Romance is in the air' in Colors' Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon (produced by Nautanki Telefilms and BAG Films) between RK (Vivian Dsena) and Madhu (Drashti Dhami). A certain section of the media has already reported about RK and Madhu getting lost in the jungle while they are on the way to their picnic spot. They are forced to spend the night in the forest as they cannot reach out to their family due to network problem.

With a perfect ambience set for love, what will the viewers get to see here? We hear that RK and Madhu in a typical village style will be seen doing their chores, with Madhu cooking food for RK and RK milking the cows etc.
Amidst this, RK and Madhu will meet a Marathi couple wherein the lady is a big Rajesh Khanna fan and has stitched an attire for herself which is similar to the Mumtaz one in the popular number 'Bindiya Chamkegi'. Madhu will get to wear the attire and will dance on the same Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz number with RK romancing her in the village setup.

As reported by media, veteran Marathi actors Vijay Kadam and Sushma Bhagwat will play the Marathi couple.

Drashti Dhami, popularly known as Madhu ofMadhubala, has found a new sister in her brother Jaisheel.
Suhasi and Jaisheel Dhami, one of the most popular jodis of Nach Baliye this season, saw some encouragement from Jaisheel's lil sister Drashti, who took time out from her busy schedule to cheer them during their dance performance. The couple gave a mind-blowing mirror performance on Ami je tomar fromBhool Bhulaiyaa, which got them a full 33 marks and appreciation from judges and contestants alike.

However, the icing on the cake was that the mirror act required Jaisheel to dress up as a girl. After the performance, Drashti came on stage and said how she had found a new sister, err brother, in Jaisheel.

She even reiterated how in their childhood, Jai would wear her dungaree and roam all around the house. Jai obviously tried to defend himself by saying that dungaree was unisex and was in fashion then. He even added that he did all of that to make Drashti cry.

However, judge Sajid Khan was not to be fooled. He intervened and said he couldn't justify himself on this while he was dressed up as a girl. The comment was greeted with loud guffaws from the audience while Jaisheel, we assume, was left red-faced.

The episode also saw Terence Lewis' sister appearing on national television for the first time. And much to everyone's surprise, she asked him to get married!

While tarot card reader and TV celebrity Munisha Khutwani is coming to support Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal on the sets of Star Plus' Nach Baliye season 5, we have one more TV star making her way on the show.

Well, it's none other than the gorgeous Drashti Dhami aka Madhu of Colors' Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon. Wondering what brings her there? Well, Drashti was there to render her support to Suhasi Dhami and Jaisheel Dhami as she is the younger sister of Jaisheel.

Storylines get TRPs, not stars

The writing's on the wall, er, small screens. Television soaps no longer need to piggyback ride on stars to rake in the TRPs. The report cards of the last two weeks (week 4 & week 3 of TAM Peoplemeter) have amply proved that point.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah (SAB TV) and Balika Vadhu (Colours) are tied at the top slot (with a TRP of 4.4) for two consecutive weeks. Neither shows have any of television's much wanted superstars in their creditlines.Balika Vadhu is riding a new high since the entry of model-actor Siddharth Shukla (who had to his credit two daily soaps that barely got noticed until BV made him a face to reckon with on TV) has stepped in as Shiv, the charming IAS officer who's swept the protagonist Anandi into a courtship and marriage (that had an airtime of three months) and has a new track where a reformed Jagya (played by Shashank Vyas) takes a stand against domestic violence and child marriage; while Taarak Mehta is banking solely on Dilip Joshi and Disha Vakani's superb comic timings. Both BV and Taarak have also benefitted immensely from the weak 8 pm programming of Star Plus, Zee and Sony.
Perched at No.2 is Diya Aur Baati Hum (4.1), a consistent performer, a show that prides itself on tackling social issues like women's education and Neelu Vaghela as Bhabo and Anas Rashid as Suraj are the names that have helped the show notch its steady numbers in its one and half year stint. c (Star Plus) has made a surprise comeback in the top 5 slot (with a TRP of 3.9) after a time leap and is No.3. At No.4 is Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke (Zee TV), the sleeper hit of the channel (with a TRP of 3.8, a slight dip from last week's TRP of 4.0) has relatively unknown faces leading the star cast and has still managed to get the numbers and turn the broadcaster's GRPs favourably. Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon is No 5 with 3.6 TRP; followed by Sasural Simar Kaat No.6 (TRP of 3.5). Madhubala...'s star ace is teenage heartthrob Vivian D'sena and the talented Dhrasti Dhami. Sasural...'s current track has Avika Gor playing the stellar role in saving her family fortune. In the supporting cast are Deepika Samson and Manish Raisinghani. Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Pavitra Rishta and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha... are at No.7, tied with the same TRPs 3.4. Even after three years, Saathiya's only starry face belongs to Roopal Patel also known as Kokila in the show.

Pyaar... which had come under scanner a couple of months ago for poor TRPs has done a surprise comearound and is delivering the numbers again.

Pavitra Rishta with Ankita Lokande and Ritvik Dhanjani is poised for a time leap again amid reports of Ankita quitting the show doing the rounds, the current story about two impending weddings and pregnancies has struck a chord.

Zee TV's Qubool Hai has inched into a comfortable No.8 slot (TRP of 3.3) thanks to Karan Singh Grover's charisma and also an honour killing track - both appear to have found a connect with audiences. At No. 9 is Sab TV's Chidiya Ghar (TRP of 2.7), a ribtickler with no heavy duty cast.Devon Ka Dev Mahadev is No. 10 with a TRP of 2.6. And the common point between the top shows of this week? Apart from Karan Singh Grover, Vivian D'sena and Dhrasti Dhami, none of the shows needed a big star to grab eyeballs. High drama, some ribtickling and tearjerking moments did the needful.

Real life inspires Telly soaps

Television, a medium which primarily targets women audience is now coming up with storylines that showcase social issues, particularly after the strong impact that the recent Delhi gang rape incident has made. Recent tracks in Parvarrish... Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, Kaali... Ek Punar Avatar, Qubool Hai, Amrit Manthan, Har Yug Mein Ayega Ek Arjun, Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, et al have taken creative inspiration from real life incidents of honour killings, child trafficking, domestic violence and rape.

Amrit Manthan had a track where the protagonist stands up against crimes against women; in Madhubala.. Ek Ishq Ek Junoon is a victim of domestic violence who ran away to prevent female infanticide of her newborn shoots her devilish husband; Kaali.. Ek Punar Avatar is loosely based on the Nitish Katara honour killing case; Qubool Hai also had an entire track on honour killing; in Parvarrish... Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, Kaali... a teenager saves herself from a possible molestation and kidnap.

Call it a bid to introducing more relatable content or creating more awareness, TV shows are inspired from real life incidents in a big way. Prashant Bhatt, weekday programming head of a renowned General Entertainment Channel (GEC) says, "Social issues have always inspired television. Reel always takes inspiration from real life."

Banking just on real life incidents is not enough, say many. Producer Saurabh Tewary says, "TV soaps are moving away from the regular saas bahu dramas and with shows catering to women between 15-35 years ,the narrative has to be one that the audience can identify with. One must marry entertainment with the incidents so that there is synergy and the idea is in sync with the storyline."

Channel heads/producers and actors feel TV shows also need to do their bit in social reforms. "Audiences connect with stories on women empowerment," says Tewary. Concurs Bhatt, "If a show manages to bring in some positive changes in one life, the purpose is served. TV is not about setting fashion trends only."

Drawing inspiration from real life incidents, says Ajit Thakur, head and general manager of a GEC, is "another way of storytelling and content needs to reflect real life because that's more relatable." Actor Adaa Khan too seconds the move, "Everyone relates to the real life incidents.TV soaps are basically reflecting what is happening in the society. It is also our responsibility to emphasis on the need for change in the society."

As to whether reality finds a taker in the audience only time (and TRPs) will tell. Till then let the drama build up on the small screen.

Violence against women
The burning issue of female infanticide was the base point from where the subsequent tracks of Madhubala Ek Ishq Ek Junoon started off. Other shows that are currently talking about domestic violence et al, include Phir Subah Hogi, Junoon Aisi..., and Balika Vadhu

Honour killings
Barely months after Aamir Khan brought to light the Khap Panchayat's brutal honour killings in a Rajasthan village in Satyamev Jayate, TV soaps are using it for dramatic effect. Shows like Qubool Hai, Har Yug Mein Ayega Ek Arjun, Adaalat etc. have addressed the issue.

Real to reel
Loosely based on the Nitish Katara honour killing case, Kaali ..Ek Punar Avatar was given a prestigious 8 pm slot with Mangal Kenkre as the female protagonist fighting for justice . Other shows that have aped real to reel situations are Parvarrish Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, Amrit Manthan and Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke (recent episodes in these shows took off from the Delhi gang rape case).
