Madhubala to end on 12 July; Shastri Sisters to replace

Madhubala…coin the term and visual images of beauty, glory, ecstasy, passion pop up. Yes, Madhubala was the Goddess of Cinema in the yester years.

And when a show was named after the diva, it was meant to taste success. And Nautanki Telefilms’ Madhubala airing on Colors and starring Indian television’s two biggest stars, Vivian Dsena and Drashti Dhami, saw great heights of success.

But as they say, all good things have to come to an end someday.

And Tellychakkar.com has exclusive and confirmed information that Madhubala will air its last episode on 12 of July (2014).

We are sure that this piece of news would be tough to accept for the show’s avid fans. The creative team tried really hard and brought in rapid changes to up the ratings.

From a consummation scene to death sequence, to a leap, to a new lead (Gunjan Utreja) and also getting back Vivian after a hiatus, nothing really got things going.

Many say that the plot was saturated and no matter what, all efforts failed to gain viewers’ attention.

“Yes, the decision has been taken and soon everyone associated with the show will get an official intimation,” said a credible source.

So what’s replacing it? Shakuntalam Telefilms’ Shastri Sisters will take the 8.30pm slot from 14 July.

Now here’s some additional information: Madhubala was to initially be replaced by Shashi Sumeet Mittal Pvt. Ltd’s upcoming next on Colors but that project got delayed.
We contacted Vivian Dsena and he said, “I am completely unaware of this development.”

Drashti Dhami and producer Abhinav Shukla remained unavailable for comment.

We also texted Colors’ Fiction Head, Prashant Bhatt but he did not reply till the time of filing the article.

Vivian Dsena: Being a football player FIFA always excites me. Of course the matches will air early morning in India, which is difficult, but will surely try to watch a few games. Exclusive Interview: Jhalak, Bollywood and Siddharth Shukla, Drashti reveals all!



Diva Drashti Dhami never leaves her fans disappointed. Her character of Madhubala or her recent stint as a host in the biggest reality dance show- Colors' Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, she manages to win everyone's heart! Drashti bowled the audiences with her glamorous avatar as a host of JDLJ 7 with dashing Ranvir Shorey.
Her effervescent smile and hard work has made her queen of Indian Television. Pinkvilla got a chance to talk to her about her hosting skills, Bollywood plans and rumors of her link up with Siddharth Shukla. Here is what she says-

Your fans are very excited to see you as an anchor of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 7, how excited are you?
I am very nervous – more than excited. It has only been one episode and the experience has been incredible. I will make the best of the opportunity and hope my fans will continue to support me in my endeavors.

Any preparations to hone up the skills of a host as there are high expectations from you?
I believe that spontaneity is the key for the role of a host and I plan to abide by that.

How are you gelling along with Ranvir Shorey, tell us something about your chemistry with him?
Ranvir is a lot of fun. He has a great sense of humor and we are working towards building our on-screen chemistry. However, since we are still getting used to working together, I think our chemistry will become more crackling over a period of time.

Drashti you are a Diva, we loved what you wore in Jhalak PC, who is your designer and what kind of attire you would be wearing as a host of this show?
I often style my own outfits. I love experimenting with my look and am looking forward to exploring different types of attires and styling during the course of the season.

Are you enjoying the change from a daily soap to a reality show host? What would you choose if given a choice, a reality show host or a daily soap actress?
While I am very comfortable playing Madhubala, I also love to try new things. Both – acting and hosting – form an integral part of entertainment and it is this common factor that I cherish and enjoy the most. It is almost impossible to choose a favorite.

Media reported that you and Siddharth Shukla are dating, is it true?
This is not true. Siddharth and I have been great friends ever since we participated in the previous season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. That is all there is to it.

Who are you going to support in JDLJ7?
May the best win!

How different is this season going to be from the previous ones?
This season, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa has gone international and has raised the bar. While the judges are going to be stricter, we are also experimenting with outdoor concepts and have received great reviews on this addition. The styles are going to be more in variety and not to mention, my personal favorite, Madhuri Dixit has also gone western. Personally, the experience for me is going to be a whole lot different since I have shifted my role on the show.

Your best friend Sanaya came to the sets to cheer for you, how will you describe your bonding with her?
Sanaya and I are the best of friends. We share a strong bond which goes beyond any conventional description of friendship. I am really happy that she visited the sets of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa to cheer me. I would do the same for her if our roles were to be reversed.

Who do you think will be a tough contestant this season as there are few very good dancers in it?
May the best win!

How are you managing Madhubala and Jhalak?
COLORS and the production teams of Madhubala and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa have been extremely cooperative enabling me to juggle both show successfully. It is tiring, no doubt, but I enjoy both roles – actor and host.

Did you get nostalgic on your first day at Jhalak this season? Tell us something about your first day as a host.
Of course! A total nostalgic moment since everything is just the same. But was certainly nervous since I was hosting it for the first time.

What keeps you going Drashti?
To give my best and to get better since I want to be good at what I do, so that keeps me going. Family, friends and loved ones are my strength.

Any Bollywood plans or you are content with TV?
Not that I've got a call but if anything comes along my way will definitely do it.

You recently shot with Kapil Sharma for Comedy Nights with Kapil, how was your experience?
It was really nice. It was something different and I’d like to go again.

One message for your fans please.
My fans have always been an integral part of my life. I want them to know I will always continue to entertain them. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart and hope that they like me in my new avatar as a host.

Pinkvilla was the first one to inform you all that Madhubala will soon be axed by Colors channel owing to its low TRP ratings. Now, the news comes in that audiences will see the last episode of this epic show on July 12, 2014.
The show which made Vivian D Sena and Drashti Dhami more famous and close to their fans overnight has been finally shown the doors. The makers tried every twist and turn to boost the ratings but in vain. Nautanki Films' Madhubala could never revive its initial glory yet it never faded from the popularity meter. Madhubala has created a tremendous pool of fans who love the show like anything.
It will surely break millions of hearts over the globe where this show is watched. According to media reports Shakuntalam Telefilms’ Shastri Sisters will take the 8.30pm slot from July 14.

Drashti Dhami and Vivian DSena starrer Madhubala will soon be replaced by a new show, Shakuntalam Telefilms Pvt Ltd’s Shastri Sisters. The makers of the show have tried hard to include twists and turns to keep their audiences gripped for quite sometime now. However, looks like the falling TRPs and lack of juice in the plot has resulted in the show’s end. One of the most popular shows Madhubala: Ek Ishq Ek Junoon premiered on May 28, 2012. Having completed two successful years, the show hit an all time low. The show’s lead actor Vivian too left only to return a few months later. While Madhu aka Drashti remained on board, Gunjan Utreja was roped in as the new lead. However, he left the show after Vivian’s return.

Even RK’s return in a new avatar(as Raj) didn’t add much value. So, then it’s natural that the makers have decided to now bring curtains down to the show. With Drashti Dhami now hosting Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7, we’re sure that the end of Madhubala will not affect her career. And who knows, her fans might soon see her scorch the silver screen. For now, all we can say is that audience that has been a part of Madhu’s journey will definitely miss her and the show, hai na BollywoodLifers?

Madhubala to end on July 12

TV show Madhubala — Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, which hit the tube in May two years ago, will end on July 12. The show, featuring Vivian Dsena and Drashti Dhami, took a generation leap of 20 years recently.

It saw Vivian return as a new character, while Drashti played RK and Madhubala's daughter. However, they failed to recreate the RK-Madhubala magic and the ratings kept plummeting. However, Vivian says, "I have no such information."

Colors to axe ‘Bani’ & ‘Madhubala’

Another big show ‘Madhubala’ is set to bid adieu next month. The fiction, which stars Vivian D’Sena and Drashti Dhami has been in troubled waters for many months and has undergone many changes in the storyline without any major change in the low viewing figures. ‘Madhubala’ is expected to end sometime in June, however, Colors is yet to officially confirm the final date of transmission. Dhami is currently seen as presenter on ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’.

TellyChakkar reports Shakuntalam Telefilms’ ‘Shastri Sisters’ will take the vacant weekday 20:30 slot from Monday 14th July. Colors has not yet confirmed the replacement show for ‘Madhubala’.
