Apologies to all....what I wrote above (I just realized) is about Cevdet's brother Nusret, not his son Refik, that Engin will allegedly play. Refik is an engineer, and not a doctor or drunk ......he is married to beautiful girl called Perihan, which he is very much he is in love with :) .....and with the news from EA Universal that the scenarists are not Ece/Melek but Sema Ergenekon & Eylem Canpolat ..... my mood improved :)

Refik is 26, he is kind of shy, works with his father and older brother as a merchant, but his mind is elsewhere....he wanna do better, greater things....he is a dreamer, wants to write books, they have a daughter and a son (who will become a painter).... he leaves his father company and sells his share to open a publishing house to print the books that don't sell, his wife leaves him and marry some big shot lawyer.....he leaves for France.....he becomes poor....
The book kind of have 3 parts (3 time periods) The first is about Cevdet getting married and his brother dieing, leving his young son Zija to him as amanet. So Cevdet is building his "empire", buys a big house and gets rich by war profiting (selling sugar for high price)......he sends Zija to military school, and have 2 sons and a daughter(Aysa).
Second parts starts on day of Kurban Bayram....the whole family celebrating, both sons are married ....this is the longest part of a book...here is grown up Refik and the others ......Cevdet dies (and Refik)
The third part is short, and is about grown up Ahmet, the painter (Refik's son) ....and old grandma sick and dieing, while Ahmet is trying to read his father's diary (which is written in arabic) .....he had a friend, a girl that helps him translate the diary....he is in love with her and thinking of asking her to marry him....it ends on the night when old grandma(Cevdets wife) dies.
The book is kind of boring....lots of internal dialogs and lots of characters (Refik has a 2 friends that all went to university together.....there are big parts abouth them, and their families.....there is big part about Zija....) I am not impressed, cannot see this as a dizi.

sigur face dush....deja la el e litera de lege,e scris in contract,fara dush nu filmeaza.

cu amanta ,nu stiu ce sa zic..e alta epoca,alte vremuri....vom vedea ce o fi !!

in the book, the love is not a primary, or even secondary theme....it is more political, historical, "coming of age" book....if they could do this in 30 episodes, it would be better that stretching it endlessly ....I can see Engin as Refik, cause he always is thinking and having this internal dialogues with himself....while others are talking....he would do this character brilliantly ..... there is a scene when he gets soaked in the rain and his wife is toweling his hair, while he is pretending to be a small boy moaning and being silly to make his wife laugh :)

despre sotia lui refik

she is described as a very pretty, married young....I think doctor's daughter.....she is shy, doesn't talk much .....I am still reading, so I don't know how exactly she decided to leave Refik....but they are still together when they move out of the main house (it is a huge house, they live all together, where every son has his own floor)...they move into small apartment and she is pregnant with their second child (Ahmet)

Cartea este cartea . Serialul va fi alta manacare de peshte .

Deci va juca cu Kenan si cu Bergo ?
Ca si la el apar acekeasi nume pentru scenariu .

dar nici poveste de familie nu a fost spectaculoasa si au facut din ea serial. se pricep ei la crosetat. o sa stea engin cu o carte in mana un ep intreg . o sa-i vedem gandurile...

Engin va fi visatorul ...si Kenan va fi cel cu picioarele pe pamant .

pai deja au personaje. cevdet si sotia, copiii si sotiile lor, prietenii copiilor, se muta toti in casoi, fiecare copil va avea etajul lui, deci manajere si bagatori de seama ca in toate serialele, care vor curata cartofi si vor matura curtea si refiok va socializa cu toti, prietenii lui refik, socrii baietilor cu tot familionul...plus vecinii.
