Nautanki Films popular show Madhubala takes up a Social Cause!!
Color’s popular show Madhubala- Ek Ishq Ek Junoon is all set to highlight a social cause. The aim of showcasing a social issue is to reach out to the people and to make an impact on the people through this show.
Nautanki Films hit television serial Madhubala' expresses many the hurdle of the everyday Indian woman. Using its popularity to draw attention to a serious social issue like forced abortions, the serial's lead protagonist Madhubala (Dhrasti Dhami) is seen in a dilemma which many women in India could relate to.
In present day society, though women's rights are being spoken and fought for, their liberty to take decisions stands as a question mark. Forced abortions, a prevalent concern, is faced by most of the members of the fairer sex irrespective of their caste, class or creed.
The popular daily soap Madhubala" has taken up the task of bringing this issue to the forefront. The past week saw the show's protagonist, Madhu's, dreams getting crushed when her husband RK(Vivian Dsena) tries to coerce her to abort their first child to suit his own agenda. Standing against her husband's wishes, Madhu makes a firm decision to keep the child.
Unfortunately, going by the promos, the upcoming episodes will see Madhu suffer a supposed 'accidental miscarriage', symbolizing the often sad fate that befalls Indian women.
Speaking on the ongoing track, Abhinav Shukla, co-producer of production house Nautanki Films says "Many times injustices done against women go unnoticed. With our show we will try to throw light on these issues, we are hopeful the gravity of this social issue will reach out and make an impact on the show's many viewers"
Saurabh Tewari, co-producer Nautanki Films added, "It is not the first time we have introduced a social cause in the story, and it is definitely not the last time we will do so. We are quite pleased to use our show as a platform to showcase issues which affect the general public"
Coincidentally the show has previously dabbled with the grave issue of female foeticide, wherein Madhubala's mother was forced to drop her girl child by her husband and family, against whom she strongly fought and won, managing to keep the baby.
With the upcoming episodes getting interesting, Madhu's next step would be worth waiting for. Whatever may be her reaction, one thing is for sure Nautanki Films' "Madhubala" is proving to be quite an inspiration to all its female fan following.

"Portraying a schizophrenic character in a funny way was a challenge" - Gulfam Khan
The talented actress Gulfam Khan who is seen playing a schizophrenic character in the comedy show Bh Se Bhade, enjoys playing the character of Lata and finds it challenging at the same time too.
The talented actress Gulfam Khan who was recently seen in Saurabh Tiwary's popular daily soap Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon on Colors, is now seen playing the character of Lata in Hats Off Productions comedy show Bh Se Bhade which airs on Zee TV. She is playing the fiance of Bhimsen Ganguly a.k.a Atul Parchure in the show.
Gulfam Khan is portraying a schizophrenic character which is a very difficult character to act and to twist it up in a comedy show is even a big challenge. On the same we got in touch with Gulfam Khan to know more about her character and the challenges that she is facing to play such a character and she says, "Yes, I do play a schizophrenic character in the show but it is not harmful character at all. But making a schizophrenic character funny is definitely very challenging for me. As an artist I always look forward to challenges."
Further she elaborates saying,"The brilliant producer Aatish Kapadia has written my character and wanted to make a serious character look funny. So Aatish added one more disorder to my character and that was selective amnesia and making the character look even the more funnier I too added one more disorder to my character which is repetitive disorder."
We also asked her on how is it working with Hats Off Production and Gulfam says, "I have earlier been associated with Hats Off earlier too and it is always a homely environment working with them."
We wish Gulfam Khan all the very best for this show!

Tellyland actors talk about their favourite comedy movies
There have been various hit movies made in the genre of comedy out of which only some work to enthrall the audiences so much that they fall off laughing from their seat. Indeed, it is a difficult genre and it is not at all easy to make people laugh. We speak to television actors on which is their favourite rib-tickling comedy movie till date.
Vivian D’sena:
I fall off my seat every time I watch Hera Pheri. Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty and Akshay Kumar are fabulous in that movie! I am actually really fond of comedy movies.

Small screen's abusive hubbies make for a hit' story
Forget monster MILs! Small screen's bahu brigade has a new nemesis to deal with, one who's making them shed glycerine induced tears during their 20 minute screen time on weeknights " their significant other. Fiercely dominating, aggressive, chauvinistic male protagonists have reduced their wives to tearjerking beings with their regressive thought and abusive behaviour.
Some are plain insecure of their wives' success (RK played by Vivian Dsena of Madhubala...) some physically abusive (Parmeet played by Gaurav Chaudhary in Bani " Ishq Da Kalma and Pramad played by Aanshul Trivedi in Saraswatichandra) some mentally and even physically torture their wives (Mrityunjay played by Viraf Feroze Patel in Ek Boond Ishq, Shaurya played by Rohit Khurrana in Sasural Simar Ka and Anshuman played by Iqbal Khan in Tumhari Pakhi) and some are married for revenge, (Shlok played by Avinash Sachdev in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Ek Baar Phir ) " but they are united by a common strain, their abusive treatment of their better halves which could include verbal abuse, mental torture, or actual physical trauma, depending on now negative the character is meant to be.
Evidently, there's a clear sadist streak in soap-addicts who seem to love these kind of traumatic tracks where the women have to battle for her self-respect against her own spouse! Producer Yash Patnaik explains, "We can't take away the fact that India is a male-dominated country. That's why we have female protagonists who fight against abuse of any form because it's a story everyone understands. However, we try and show both sides of the story and maintain a neutral stand." Producer Sudhir Sharma says, "All these 'abusive' characters are inspired by real life people. These characters also make the storyline dramatic and the audience likes the battle of the good vs evil."
While the abusive protagonist does grab a lot of attention and becomes the most hated personality in a show, not too many actors willingly slip into such roles. Shashank Vyas who had briefly played an abusive husband in Balika Vadhu says, "A lot of Indian women have to cope with abusive and aggressive spouses, that's why such characters strike an instant connect with the audience." Aanshul Trivedi, who plays Pramad in Saraswatichandra, shares, "Every positive or negative character has a story to tell."
In the soap-studded small screen, the amount of tears shed by the harmless bahu often adds to the number of viewers. And if in the process the hero turns 'grey' then it's only for a reel purpose.

Drashti Dhami to wed Neeraj Khemka on 22 February 2014?
TV superstar Drashti Dhami’s marriage to boyfriend Neeraj Khemka has been a matter of great speculation. Numerous possible dates have been tossed in the air but the much awaited nuptial is yet take place. And in the season of frenzied expectations and speculations, here comes another piece of news from the stable of Tellychakkar.com.
Last week we were tagged in a message on a Twitter account handle (@khemka_niraj) which went by the name Niraj Khemka. The message read as follows: “22nd February 2014 - I can already hear the bells”.
From the above tweet, it appears that Neeraj’s all set to get married but he refrained from answering the million dollar question…with whom?
However, in the ever manipulative world of social networking, we cannot really verify if the Twitter handle actually belongs to Khemka or not for many false accounts of individuals keep mushrooming in the micro blogging world. But what makes our suspicion grow is that Drasthi(@drashti10 ) follows him? If it would have been a false handle, then why would she do that?
Rings a bell, certainly!!!
To be clear, we dropped a text message to both Drashti and Neeraj. However, we did not receive any clarification or response from them till the time of filing this story.
Whatever be it, we are sure if Drashti indeed marries Khemka in February, this would mean great joy for the actress’ fans (Jhalak season 6 winner and currently seen in Madhubala on Colors).
Let the conjugal bliss engulf the two!!!

Re: 2.Noutati media
Katrina Kaif named world's sexiest Asian woman for fourth time
The actress narrowly defeated Priyanka Chopra, TV star Drashti Dhami and current box office queen Deepika Padukone.
She secured the top spot in the world-renowned '50 Sexiest Asian Women List 2013' with Chopra coming second, Dhami third and Padukone fourth.
A permanent fixture in the top three for the past six years, Kaif beat off competition from the world's most stunning Asian women in the tenth edition of UK based, Eastern Eye newspaper's definitive Sexy List.
The fourth win comes just weeks before Katrina hits the big screen again in one of the year's biggest Bollywood releases 'Dhoom 3: Back In Action'.
"I didn't know it was a record! That's a nice surprise and a lot of fun to hear. I like it because Eastern Eye newspaper is the one my sisters see because they live in London. It's lovely, but also people are reacting to what they see.
"Obviously if everyone were to see me when I wake up in the morning or in my track pants and then vote for me, then maybe I would be a little bit more believing of it myself. But of course it's very flattering," Katrina said.
Chairman of the judging panel and magazine's showbiz editor Asjad Nazir, who annually puts the list together, said it was a close race.
Like last year, the biggest surprise of 2013 list was the sheer dominance of television actresses from India. Dhami added to a dream year by becoming the first television actress to crack the top three while her friend Sanaya Irani entered the top 10 for the first time at sixth position.
Other Indian television actresses who made the list included last year's highest new entry Nia Sharma (11), Jennifer Winget (15), Asha Negi (18), Krystle D'Souza (19) and Rubina Dilaik (26).
The highest new entry was 'Aashiqui 2' star Shraddha Kapoor (12), who narrowly missed out the top 10. The highest placed Pakistani was Humaima Malick (15) and the only non-Indian in the list was 'Anger Management' star Noureen DeWulf (10).
The American actress, who stars alongside Charlie Sheen in the hit US sitcom, dominated the non-Asian vote. The oldest women in the list were Bollywood icons Madhuri Dixit (23) and Sridevi (40).
Other notable stars in this year's list include Sonam Kapoor (5), Parineeti Chopra (14), Sophie Choudry (21), Mehreen Syed (22), Sunidhi Chauhan (28), Ankita Lokhande (29) Hina Khan (31) and Shreya Ghoshal (43).
2013's full list is out on December 6 in the magazine.
