Buna Dana,eu cand am scris acele ganduri nu am avut treaba cu Levent,eu m-am referit la Bahar si Hasret,printr-o intimplare Hasret sa auda acea convorbire si asa sa-si dea seama ca Murat nu a mintit-o cand i-a spus de ce a fost la hotel,asta-i una ,a doua problema ,nu stiu de ce am eu un clopotel care imi semnaleaza ca Levent nu-i chiar un om bun cum pare,cel putin fata de Murat,il invidiaza pe toate liniile,familie,copilarie,studii,cariera,dragoste.Poate ca o iubeste pe Hasret desi ma indoiesc,pt el este mandria ca a reusit sa o sterpeleasca de la Murat ,cu toate ca stie ca Hasret nu-l iubeste ,nu-i pasa, cred ca daca Hasret ajunge sa se casatoreasca cu el nu v-a avea viata usoara, deja primele semne si-au facut aparitia,vrea sa-i fie si producator nu numai impresar,nu-i place ca v-a fi privita de multa lume,daca se va casatori Hasret cu Levent nu vor mai sta in Instambul,o v-a duce departe de toti ca sa nu-i mai fie in apropiere nimeni din rudele ei,pe care nu prea le agreaza,departe sa nu se mai intalneasca cu Murat.SCUZA-MA DENISA.

PART 1

Cansel Elcin talked about unknown sides of his and about all that is wondered about him.

Gonulcelen is a series of recent times which has got the most fanatic and enthusiastic fans. Cansel Elcin & Tuba Buyukustun are the two main heroes of the series, every action of theirs turns out to be an event and their fans’ interest towards them becomes a subject for news.


So we knocked at Cansel Elcin’s door in order to get to know him closer and to make him closer to his fans on his way from captain Jamal to lawyer Ahmet, and to producer Murat who does his best to turn a florist girl into a star.

Let us see what the popular actor told about this travel started from the years in France.
Q: You lived in France for years, worked as an actor there, and you always tell it was pleasant. What happened that made you to return to Turkey?

“ I was interested in acting when living in France, and it was good enough. I was playing a part in plays, series and commercials. I was a lucky actor, because I was acting in every sphere. I was dubbing in French with Turkish accent.
We were preparing plays with my friends with the money that I earned from commercials. One evening I got a phone call. It was a private number. I answered.

Before that when I came to Turkey once Ferzan Ozpetek had a project for a series, but the project was not realized at all. Of course they already knew my name in Turkey.
Tomris Giritlioglu had seen my play, too. And it was her calling, she said she wanted to get acquainted with me. And I said OK. I came to Turkey and started playing Captain Jamal. I was not thinking to stay here that much then.”

Starting his acting with “Broken Wings” series in Turkey, Cansel Elcin says it is very hard to play a part of a Turkish Captain after having lived in France for years.

“It is hard for a Turk who has lived in France about 30 years as a Frenchman to play a part of a captain. Playing that character was a kind of challenging for me and I was feeling much happy. Playing such a part was very special and sublime for me”.

Q: The series ended hastily… It even took a break for a while, then started again on the viewers’ claims, but again ended unexpectedly…

“Tomris Hanim left the project in Episode 9 or 10. And then I also left the series on some reasons. We were going to talk about the establishment of the Republic in the series and it was making me excited. But I got another offer those days – Hatirla Sevgili (Remember Darling). Tomris Hanim had got another project which would talk about Adnan Menderes’s days, Deniz Gezmish’s days. I knew that period and loved it much, so I got very excited and accepted the project.”
PART 2

ACTING IN A SERIES IS LIKE ACTING IN LIVE IN THE THEATRE”

Q: I think you like acting in series in Turkey, you have been continuing is for long time.
“Yes, I liked acting in series, and still like it. I like it in spite of hard conditions. It demands long-running and hard working. But as I said before, sometimes there are so good scenes in the series that become more beautiful than in movies. But it is much tiring. You shoot a 90 minutes film within 5 days. And you shoot about 20-25 scenes in a day, and you need not to lose the control. Every time when they say “3-2-1 recording”, you have to be ready and stand fast there, and not to show a deficit as an actor.
But when you establish the basis of the character and when you know where the character is going, then you act like in the theatre. And I think it pleases both the actor and the viewers.

I always say shooting a series in Turkey is the 8th art. You know there are 7 arts in the world. The 7th is movie. As an actor you can get peoples reaction at once in the theatre: are they laughing or not, are they attentive or not, are the crying or not, do they like your acting or not? But when you take part in a movie you see yourself on a huge curtain after 6 months or a year, and there are 200, 300, 500 people watching it together with you. That is a different thing. But when you play in a series, you shot a scene on Tuesday then you watch it on Friday together with millions.
PART 3

“MY CAPTAIN, SAVE THIS GIRL”…
Cansel Elcin can’t help but tell a memory of his which happened to him while he was just getting used to acting in Turkey in the years of Kirik Kanatlar, it happened in the village where the shooting was taking place, and Cansel talks about it as if reliving it.
“One day we are working at the set, and I’m playing Captain Jamal. We are trying to manage with the episode, I don’t know why but we always have tension for finishing the each episode in time… The director gives us a tea break. We are shooting in a village called Kucukkoy. And I’m wearing a uniform. It is Wednesday and our series is aired that day. And I saw our director and cinematographer are watching the series through the window of a small house. And I joined them, we became as Daltons there. There was a woman inside, a villager. She was sitting on the sofa and watching our series alone. And it was the scene when Cengiz Bozkurt playing a bandit was holding Begum Birgoren’s hair and pulling her, trying to kidnap her. Begum was playing Ayshe’s part. He says “Come with me”, and the girl cries out “no, I won’t come with you, stop it”. And the aunt becomes very excited in this scene. “How is this filthy bandit behaving with my beautiful daughter, oh my God?”, she says. Then she suddenly turned to me, and I was wearing a uniform. She was so excited, couldn’t help herself, and I got excited for her. Then she suddenlt cried out : “My captain, save this girl”. I didn’t know what to do, and I said: “We are just saving her, you will see it next week”. That is why I call it as the 8th art. It is a different sense… But shooting a series in Turkey is so, I think it is not the same abroad”.

“AS I WAS LEARNING THE HISTORY MY THOUGHTS ALSO STARTED CHANGING”

And we talked about Ahmet with the successful actor/ Ahmet Gursoy, who become older for about 20 years within 2 years, was a successful lawyer, a good father, a good child, and a loving husband in HS…

“The main thing I loved in Ahmet was that he started at age 24 and ended at age 42. I worked out his posture from the beginning. For instance, you sit very stopped like a hump when you are young. Then you stand erect as you get older, and when you are old already you spread out. Maybe the viewers didn’t notice it, but I worked a lot on Ahmet’s posture, thoughts, looks, his evaluation. When it is a historical film, you work on each period separately and it is very pleasant. And I got to know many things from historical point of view. My thoughts changed.

What kind of changes?

Some of my thoughts changed, and it was normal of course. It was categorical, not radical. But you develop empathy unwillingly, We develop empathy in every sphere of our life, but when you are an actor you understand it better. You play some parts, and when you meet a man of the same personality you understand him better.


For example, playing a father… I have no children. I can understand the feelings in father-child relationship at least, but of course I do not learn how to become a father. PART 6


“IN THIS LIFE YOU ARE AS MUCH AS YOU KNOW”

In HS, you get to know your own daughter when she is 3 years old, and then you learn that Ruya is your own daughter. I think, it should be hard to play such a father…

“Yes, each series adds something new to me. As many different roles you play as much experience you get. I always say “in this life you are as much as you know”. As much you know as different you see the world, your vision gets extends. It is the most beautiful side of being an actor. You become a pilot one day, a doctor another day, or a lawyer, you live in a historical period. I think life is too short. If wish it was longer, only one profession, only one life is not enough for people.”

Elchin compares acting with a tin, “you can’t understand it, you can only taste it”, he says.


“It is nice to get pleasure of it. Maybe that is the reason why many people want to become actors, they want to explain the life in a movie, to live other lives.
That is why internet is used so much; you get a chance to live different lives there. You are offered different plays, different worlds”.

“BEREN IS A VERY AVAILABLE FOR ENTERTAINMENT PERSON”

In HS Cansel Elcin shared the main roles with Beren Saat for two season, she is loved much and is as popular as Cansel. And we asked him about Beren’s unknown side behind the scene…



You took part in the same project with Beren Saat for two years. You lived great love and became older together within the series. How was working with Beren Saat?



“Beren is a professional and beautiful actress, the character of whose I love very much. In fact we enjoyed ourselves with Beren. She is a very available for entertainment person. So it was cheerful. Not only we two, but all the team was so.



I was with Berk Hakman just now. He said “There is a video in my phone where you, Lachin, Turgay are together and I was watching it”. And we talked “How much fun we made in this series”. It was nice time. Of course, you don’t notice it that time, you are busy, you get tired, but you recognize everything after the series is over. You give life to a character, then Ahmet dies, and finishes…



I mean we live a short life/ And we all lived that life in HS. It was wonderful. And it was great pleasure to work with Beren. She is an amusing, sympathetic and professional girl. We were laughing a lot together. Belcim is such a girl, too. We all became friends, the day before all we met again".
